Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Wicksey, when I transfer a monthly amount from UK to Spain using Wise it goes via a Belgium IBAN and arrives in seconds. Interestingly it takes overnight to send the other way, typically arriving at 7am the next day. I don't know whether this delay is due to my Spanish bank's processes or cross EU b...

Davexf - out of interest, when did you last visit Bodegas Pedro Romero for a refill? The company was bought by Bodegas Francsico Yuste at the end of 2015. Having said that I don't know if they are still operating a 'despacho' from their old address in Calle Trasbolsa where typically wines are sold '...

Re: CARREFOUR BOUGHT SUPERSOL

Supersol was once owned by Dutch supermarket group Ahold. It wasn't too bad back in those days but things went downhill. We used to have three in town. Our local one closed last year, the one by the bus station became an Aldi and as far as I know the one on the outskirts is still going. They used to...

Re: Chiclana,Conil & san lucar

Elusive, I've never visited either Chiclana or Conil de la Frontera but am aquainted with Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Depending on your budget there a few very smart boutique hotels near the town centre which would be worth a punt. I aslo think there might be a bit more to see and do but again that depen...

Re: Losing spanish sim

Back in November 2016 my Yoigo SIM got blocked. Although I had a balance I hadn't topped up since December 2015 . Now I chose Yoigo because I had read on some comparision site that providing you had a balance they wouldn't do that. Anyway I sent a grovelling email to Clientes and got the SIM u...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

@steve_w, do let us know how you get on with Wise (Transferwise) and their multi-currency account. I'm currently on free banking with a high street Spanish bank saving 12 euros a month but that requires a monthly deposit and three direct debits per quarter. I currently only use Wise for monthly tran...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Any thoughts out there on when Andalucia / Spain might start accepting rapid lateral flow tests (LFTs) for inbound international travel? From today UK Goverment is offering free kits to companies registered in England whose employees cannot work from home.

Patricia, this happened to me recently on Windows 7 Pro after I swapped the HDD for a SSD. There was an error message on restart alerting me to missing audio hardware so through Device Manager and was able to get audio working by uninstalling equivalent audio drivers which then re-installed by thems...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Patricia, thanks for sharing - you had them bang to rights. By the way Caixabank will be merging by absorption with Bankia subject to regulatory clearance with plans to integrate operations by year end. I think I'll have a chat with the president over the next couple of weeks as the town is going in...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Hi Patricia Well done with your complaint to Caixa. I posted last year about our garage owners bank account with them and excessive fee increases. There are only three owners and our community president told me that Caixa had increased their fees for our account to 30 euros per month (!). As far as ...

jonbar.1 - sounds (no pun intended!) like you've sorted this. For the benefit of board members Samsung offer a Switch app (Samsung Smart Switch) that allows you to transfer content between Samsung phones as well as from other phones to Samsung. This actually worked quite well for me as I needed to t...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

I know what TMA stands for but it does not seem to be available in the UK unless it is the same as the two-hour RT-LAMP test, for example, available at Stansted Airport for £79. For the epidemiologists out there; are they perchance one and the same? Lay responses welcome too! If cheap and rapid test...

Re: Covid Restrictions Andalucia

As predicted by many on this forum the medidas preventivas have been extended to 10th December on account of the puente. Looks like all of Andalucia is now Level 4 (grade 1) with the the exception being a zone east and north east of Málaga which is Level 3. Is that the general understanding or are t...

Refunds are now taking less than five days . Having said that 'm still surprised how little reliable information...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

So, given that PCR -ve test certifications are required on arrival at ports and airports in Spain, then surely that leaves open the possibility of flying to an airport in Portugal and cross the land border by bus or train without the need for a PCR test? Having said that I'm struggling to find any m...
