Re: Made in China

I was involved in imports - one aspect of the trade is that it is so cheap to transport from China. The cost of transporting a container say from Felixstowe to the UK destination by lorry is greater than the shipping cost from China!

Re: big empty parking lot or similar for car practice around Benalmadena?

The Feria area next to Paloma Park, or the market ground in Tivoli area. Or as per costakid Ikea car park near the airport.

Re: Coronavirus

No good deed goes unpunished. I've volunteered. Not for a badge or to get in a supermarket queue. I'm not sure if I'll be needed but I've got time and transport should I be asked.

Re: Internet banking

I use Bankinter and also satisfied with service and especially so when in branch. Not free - a monthly 5 euro charge (had previously been 3.75 for years until an increase last year), 2 x 25 euro annual charge for debit cards and every couple of years a non-res charge (again I think 25 euro each). So...

Google Gestoria Bravo - they have 3/4 offices -one in Calahonda...if that's close enough - I use the Fuengirola office.

Haha ... I don't call Benalmadena Pueblo coastal!!

As for Antequera, in early springtime it in can be sun block and shorts in the afternoon and thermals by sunset.

Re: Covering up a rubble filled hillside

Another shout for Morning Glory. I cultivate it and water regularly while my neighbours prune. A real battle of wills. They consider it a weed. Looks a damn sight better than an old grey concrete wall imo.

Re: Extraordinary Quotas for Future Expenses for Spanish Communities

Our block is doing something similar. Replacing internal water pipes (leakage is causing insurance problems) and will allow meter installation if wanted. An expensive job! Our share of the community charge is based on square metre and this basis has been used for the works. The company doing it won'...

Re: Cyclists

@ costakid - Thanks for the update about the bridge. I'm not a regular cyclist so was pretty shattered by the time I got to the cement factory...and I've got to make the return journey! Thanks for the tip, I'll try that route but will take the train to Malaga first.

Re: Cyclists

@ Paddy .... in my experience Spanish drivers are most courteous to cyclists...I hadn't considered it was traffic laws. I try to keep off the roads as cars are getting wider and roads stay the same width!

Re: Cyclists

I cycled from Benalmadena to the cement factory( I'd seen the tower in the distance and wondered what it was - disappointing when I got there!) near Rincon, mostly along various paseos - nice and flat. I was v impressed with that side of town btw. And the speed I go wouldn't register on any police r...

Supersol in Arroyo sells assorted Chivers marmalades and Chivers lemon curd - maybe other branches do jam.

Re: Property in Malaga province advice please

Hi Solar Re: ‘im a fan of the pueblo’ what is this place? - It is village uphill from the coast - I'm sure would suit you but too far away for your beach requirement. Also ‘arroyo’ where is this location? Is it ‘Arroyo de Miel’ just north of Benalmadena Costa? -Yes it is. Paloma Park’ it seems to be...

Yes, Paloma Park is a gem, and the pueblo has quite a different vibe to the costa but too far from the beach for me!

Re: Train discount card

Hi Costa There's a new system in place. The ticket if you kept it is re-usable so the next time it will be 1.80 again. apparently we can't use the green bus card to pay anymore. You can buy a personalised reusable train card with photo for about 2.50 from the kiosk (id required) If you still have yo...

Re: Property in Malaga province advice please

Hi ... I have a holiday home in Benalmadena Costa, so biased on a West vote. Less than 10 min stroll to beach, 5 mins to bus stops, 15 mins to train station. The train line along the coast from Malaga to Fuengirola with a station at the airport is a big plus. With your budget you're sure able to aff...

Re: Cádiz — a personal guide

We are doing our first cruise in Jan. We noticed the boat we've booked was in Malaga for the day a couple of months ago, so we decided to check it out. It wasn't easy to miss, so we walked to it. Passengers were returning for lunch complaining that Malaga was nothing but bars and shops! Probably the...
