Re: Coronavirus

Spoke to Brother in Essex and Sister in Plymouth.....all big supermarkets virtually scavenged bare by panic buyers, no fresh meats, precious little veg or milk..even fighting over trolleys in car park in Plymouth. whereas Lidl here in Spain fully stocked and orderly shoppers. Thing were pretty bare...

Seems to be true. Reported by https://www.facebook.com/DrivingSpain/ too. Apparently starting at midnight today.

Re: Coronavirus

I flew to the uk on thursday night no problem but airport was very quiet. Looked a bit strange with lots wearing masks. Friend who lives in Malaga city said lots of bars and restaurants already closed on Saturday. Streets very quiet and shops with no customers. The problem is when they lift the ban...

Re: some idiot kids threw rocks at my car: body shop recommendations?

Ok, thanks for the warning. It looks like I will have to take a trip to the dealer anyway, as this morning a woman hit my car from behind while snailing through traffic. :-/ Quite similar to my own mistake last year, so I'm starting to wonder if that's an EUR 6,000 ache I'm feeling in my left earlobe.

Re: some idiot kids threw rocks at my car: body shop recommendations?

Yeah, I'm sure they do, but car's special to me, so want something good, while I suspect their list of recommended places will be based on price rather than quality. Regarding the excess, I'm not sure exactly why it's so high, but was told it was due to two reasons: 1) while snailing in queue at aro...

some idiot kids threw rocks at my car: body shop recommendations?

Driving down the hill opposite of the benalmadena columbus museum some days ago, some idiot children inside a gated community on top of the hill 40-50m above the road were having their fun throwing rocks at cars passing below. Unfortunately my car was hit, so my new car now has an unsightly bump on ...

Re: recommendations for car window tinting shop?

I can recommend this shop now: https://lamitecmalaga.com Slightly more expensive than a rather big chain (Solarcheck), but trying to arrange something with the bigger chain was a PITA. One branch said I had to leave the car there the whole day (why? Because he's so busy. Cannot schedule some time? N...

Re: Car Hire Malaga Airport

Interesting stories. I'm not sure I would be brave enough to do that. If somebody was going to charge me EUR 10 or less for a weeks car hire, I would feel sure they had some scheme to scam some real money out of me some other way, as obviously the €1.50 or €6.50 does not cover their expenses. You ap...

Re: ITV Documents

I tried three stations yesterday, and was so surprised I got the same date "suggested" for all of them (March 5). I see there are other stations too, but they're getting further and further away from me, so not very convenient. Thank you for the suggestion regarding calling. I tried callin...

Re: ITV Documents

Are you sure about the date on which it expires? Try installing the ITV app. Once you have entered the details of the vehicle it shows the date of expiry of the current ITV. There may be some kind of mix-up over the date of expiry. I was not able to bring my car up on that app, possibly due to me e...

Re: ITV Documents

Guess so. I thought it might be an error or misunderstanding on my part at first, since both centers showed first available date exactly one month after my itv expires, but seems not. Next year I'll have to do what you do then.

Re: ITV Documents

I'm trying to make an appointment for my car via itvcita.com. The cars paper say the itv is valid to 05-02-2020. First I tried the station in Mijas. After entering plate number and VIN, it "recommends" me the date March 5, which is one month after expiration. If I click the option to chose...

Re: electrician for small repair job in Benalmadena

Thanks, I did that and somebody came out and fixed it. They did a decent job, but were too expensive for me to recommend myself. Mainly I got miffed about them wanting EUR 25 to deliver "when they happen to pass by for other work nearby" a couple of small fuses that are necessary, and whi...

Re: electrician for small repair job in Benalmadena

Well, being too stupid too speak the country's language yet, I guess I got what I deserved and paid through the nose?. Anyway, I don't have preference for a British electrician at all, just at the moment I need (needed) someone who speaks at least some English unfortunately. If somebody has a recomm...

electrician for small repair job in Benalmadena

The heavy rain the last few days seems to have shorted something, somewhere. I'm guessing it's something outside as I've disconnected everything inside that was connected via that fuse, but it's still constantly tripping. Can anyone recommend an electrician, preferably near Benalmadena? Unfortunatel...

Re: where to buy unshelled raw peanuts?

I've been looking so far without luck for unshelled raw peanuts (for making peanut butter). Anyone have some tips on where I can find them? Not too far from Benalmadena preferably. Thanks. Hi, I don't know if you have scourced you unshelled peanuts yet but they have them in Aldi, In my local Aldi i...
