Re: Removing layers of old flakey paint

For big areas of flakey paint we have used the blade of a garden spade...works wonders!! For the small stubborn patches we ended up using a small hammer and paint scraper. Works well but a bit time consuming :)

Re: Registering on the Padron

We've just registered for the Padron...all we needed was something to prove we owned the house (deeds) and copies of our passports and NIE's. We then got a follow up visit from the local police at the house to double check our passports.

Re: Mosquitos this year

We have just got back from a fortnight out in Spain (Costa Tropical) and we were gobsmacked at the lack of flies and mozzies!! My Mrs always used to get eaten alive by them but this time managed just the one bite which is amazing for her. With that said we have had a load of fruit trees taken out to...

Re: Cost of seriously strong retaining walls

Is the problem actual movement/creep, or purely erosion? The problem is just erosion. We have had the place about 3 years now and it has never caused us a real problem before. Have had a couple of very minor falls which were easily scooped up with a shovel and wheelbarrow. However the latest slip w...

The track to the right is not ours...it goes up the hillside to a handful of other houses.

Ok, lets see if this works...

The problem area is actually out of shot...it is to the far right behind the car, but it gives you an idea of what faces us.

Re: Cost of seriously strong retaining walls

Cheers Hilly, The drop is nigh on vertical and it must be upwards of 8 metres at its highest (if not more  ). We already have some trees planted at the top and some trailing plants going over the edge. It only seems to subside when there is extreme torrential rain, which fortunately isn't tha...

Re: Cost of seriously strong retaining walls

Teralin, sounds like we have similar problems. Although ours isn't so urgent (yet!), it is something we will have to be looking at in the future. We keep getting landslips from a terrace of ours which all ends up on a track below. I like the sound of those gabion things, but don't think it would be ...

Quite simply through personal choice...I have no need for any adverts to show. I find them annoying and intrusive. Just becuase I block them doesn't surely effect the fee paid by them :?:

The Guardia must be slipping...I would have thought if someone pulled a gun out on them, then they wouldn't have hesitated in gunning them down and asking questions later!

I am led to believe that anyone named as a beneficiary in a Spanish will must have an NIE number. Can anyone confirm this please.
