Re: Removals Companies

We used Bishop's Move when we came out to Spain 8 years ago. They kept our furniture in store in the UK until we needed it, and then it was sent over to Spain. We had no problems with them.

Recently we have used them to move back to the UK, and I would recommend them.

Double check your Pets Passports

Just returned to the UK with two cats. We took out their Pets Passports in 2006 in readiness for return when we could. The Spanish vet short-circuited the rabies blood test. There was actually no reason to do this as we were not imminently leaving Spain. However, the cats had been vaccinated since 2...

Re: Telefonica line cancellation

What happens if someone wants to take over your line?

For example, you are moving out and someone else is moving in. If they take over the line will they get your old number?

If you cancel the line, then they apply for a line at your address, will they automatically get it?

Re: A question of residency

I have read that you also should de-register from Spain, i.e. cancel the residency certificate in the national police station. If you are registered in the Spanish health system you should also de-register at your INSS office and local health centre. Also take your name off the padron. Does anyone d...

Re: Valle Niza Bus

I have a bus timetable for Valle Niza buses and there is a service from Cutar, Benamaragosa, Triana, to Torre del Mar, and also one from Almachar, El Borge to Torre del Mar, but I can't find Comares on the list. However, the telephone number for their offices in Torre del Mar is 952 54 27 84. Inform...

Re: Rental contract + subsiding house - urgent help needed

Yes, get some legal advice. Also take photographs for evidence.

It might be a good idea to approach the town hall. They could be the ones to say the house is uninhabitable.

Re: Time taken for a cheque to clear

Thanks.

After checking the online banking again, I found out there are two columns of dates, one the date the transaction took place 17th March and the second called "value" gives 19th March. So it looks as though it will be cleared on Friday.

Re: Has PG Tips Changed?

Are you sure its not the "one cup" pyramid tea bag you are using? They look exactly the same as the others, but contain less tea. I find these very good to make just one cup for myself. The other ones I can usually get two cups out of. I must admit I never make a pot now for myself, just tea bag in ...

I am getting fed up with the adverts from the DWP

Every forum I go to, I am followed by the Adverts from the DWP about people commiting benefit fraud.

Its very spooky.

They must be spending loads of money to put these adverts everywhere. I only hope they do some good. I don't claim any benefits at all, and I am starting to feel guilty!!

Re: Under declaring on sale of house

Good points.

It also occurs to me that if they are leaving Spain what would they do with the cash? They have to get it out of Spain and into the UK, and then change it into pounds.

Under declaring on sale of house

I didn't know it still went on, but a friend of a friend has been approached with an offer for her house, including a proportion of money to be given over in cash. I can see that it benefits the buyer as they have to pay 7% transfer tax, but is it of any benefit to the seller? Evidently the potentia...

Re: renewell of E111 card

We actually got ours early in January this year (from Spain) as we were planning a trip to the UK the following week. They were issued without a problem as we are in the system as a pensioner and dependant. The girl said they were valid for one year, but then noticed the expiry date 30 April 2010. I...

I am sure I read somewhere that there is a special phone line you can use, where they will translate for you. I think there was a poster on the wall of our health centre.

Has anyone else seen this?

Give up the Winter Fuel Allowance?

Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 this morning is going to discuss an idea that expats who live in warmer countries should be persuaded to give up their Winter Fuel Allowance.

Discuss.

Re: Where to go to unlock a mobile phone

Thanks, Spanish Lad.

Yes thats what I meant. It now has to be unblocked, and according to the Nokia website I can take it to a Nokia shop where they have repair facilities for them to do it. It looks like there is one in El Corte Ingles.
