Re: Bank recommendation?

Be careful of Cajamar (Caja Rural)

Charges went up in June. Now annually €60 account maintenance and €30 for 2 debit cards. The free banking for over 65 has been withdrawn

Re: Battling the banks (Cajamar)

This information is helpful in introducing the concept of an appeal to the Banco de España. Neither of the two abogados used so far have suggested this option. On the points mentioned the position is as follows:- 1. The bank have simply refused to make any recompense without a court decision 2. both...

Battling the banks (Cajamar)

This is an unbelievable, but true, story! I have been trying to help an elderly friend who has been left penniless by the action of Cajamar Bank who, they claim, are supported by Spanish Law. 5 years ago, this friend had €65,000 in an account at Cajamar. Unbelievably an acquaintance went in to the b...

Re: Adios Telefonica

What is the freephone number and does it work for all subjects or only sales. There are many ADSL foros in Spanish where people are complaining about the 902 costs to contact Orange about ADSL speeds, disconnection etc. I am surprised they do not know of it

Re: Urgently need new ISP

Re Bongtrees "After many problems with Orange, double charging, charging for calls never made etc etc. I sent e-mail and fax telling them to cancel my subscription. " Presumably you have a fax number (Or even better a delivery address for normal correos). Can you let me know what it is as I need to...

Re: Adios Telefonica

Re Julian "I certainly wouldn't consider changing to a reseller" Have you tried contacting Orange. They will only deal with problems using a 902 number (which is not included in free calls) and then play the usual music/hold game. Even their facturas do not have a return address. The other problem, ...

Re: Direct-Telecom.es

I have taken on Direct Telecom but am currently having doubts. I have just contracted for 3Mbps ADSL but the highest recorded on any ADSL speed test is 600kbps (and much less on other tests). My previous ADSL was 1Mbps ad I consistently registered above 800kbpsThey say that they are working on it bu...

First illegal house demolished at Vera, Almeria

"This affects pretty well every property built on rustic land in the last 20 years or so" ......... try to get your facts right before joining the sacremongering club.........that is absolute rubbish" Sorry Julian but you are wrong. We are a typical example of someone with a house built in 1999 on a...

It is no use wringing our hands and saying how bad this is. We have to do something now. Demolitions are starting all over Andalucia. There is now a clear case of abuse of political power. No doubt the politicos in Seville feel they are doing the right thing for their country (as did Hitler, Amin an...

Renewal of Residencia Cards

pyghtle makes reference to a previous posting which gave details of a site where you can check if your new residencia card is ready. I cannot find this, can anyone point me in the right direction.
I applied in March and have been to the police station 3 times to be told "NOT YET!"

Blondie referred to using a 125cc motorcycle with a car licence and I am getting confusing information on this. In June 2004 the new law came into effect which allowed holders of Class B licences (car) to ride motorcycles up to 125cc (and 11 bhp) on this licence in Spain (normally Group A1). I have ...

And you have to remember that legal papers from the Ayuntamienta have to be checked also with the Junta de Andalucia who have identified over 1500 illegal houses in the Almanzora Valley, many of which have building approvals from Ayuntamientas,

How long does it take

The process, like every bureaucratic matter can take forever in Spain. The danger to avoid is starting works before the licence is approved which alcaldes will happily suggest you do. It is becoming increasingly clear that you now have to check that the Junta of Andalucia have approved the plans as ...

Whilst we can debate which houses are illegal the main point is that the Fiscal Co-ordinato de Ambiente y Urbanismo of Spain and the President of Andalucia have publicly committed themselves to demolishing all illegal properties. Whilst the politicians involved (with the exception of Marbella) get a...

teralin- You may feel confident but articles like the one below from El Pais do not increase my confidence. Most homeowners just do not know if their house is legal or not as ayuntamientas have been issuing licences which Junta de Andalucia did not approve and are now declaring illegal. "MADRID — In...

This seems to be yet another of the examples of the mess Spain is getting into because of the vengeful hate that seems exist between the two major parties. Yes, the build was illegal, but a high percentage of the builds in this region are of dubious legality (including most of the houses like ours, ...
