Re: Coronavirus

I am at risk on four counts, one of which is age. How are we informed our turn is due and to make an appointment to be a pin cushion ? Anybody know ? It surely can't be by post. That is precisely why I started the Corona virus in Spain thread so that factual info on when and where vaccinations will...

Re: Covid Restrictions Andalucia

Just been talking with some friends. His mum and dad live in the nearest village to us. At new year twenty youngsters had a party and got infected then gave it to parents. Some are now quite ill but none have died yet. Who would have thought could have happened!

Re: Coronavirus

All a bit academic but we are all good at blame culture . How long before travellers to and from Brazil/ Portugal bring the so called Brazilian variety into Spain and then the rest of Europe? The Chinese had the right idea back in April ( I think it was) that incoming travellers self isolated in nom...

Re: UPS back up protection

Thanks for the replies. I will go for the one. As far as I can see the more expensive version of the 900 has monitoring. Haven’t the time or inclination to do that. They key thing for me is silence ( no manic beeping for example) when power goes off. Is that easy to achieve? . Also available on Amaz...

Re: Coronavirus

Or (despite my valliant efforts to be positive) we get more of these viruses and they make coronavirus look like a walk in the park. Have a look at Nypah virus just waiting to jump to humans from fruit bats. In a normal year, 2 million visitors a year to Ankh Wat with plenty of defecating/urinating ...

UPS back up protection

I have given myself the New Year task of updating our TV and desktops back up protection. The sort of power cuts I want to protect against are the very short ones. These occur almost daily and usually at specific times. Crucially lasting only approx a second. We do occasionally get longer outages fi...

Re: Coronavirus

That is all too sensible, lets just stick with the racism of viruses. Much more fun.

Ban people from Denmark.

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain

It is all about risk management regardless of the country. There would have been civil disobedience then the government would lose control. So we all knew infections woould rocket by allowing us to have our Christmas here but they had no choice.

Re: Travel Covid requirements

The maths is very wrong. There are 31.536 million seconds in a year. So at 5 seconds a pop, that would be 6.307 million vaccine doses a year. At 2 doses per person means 3.15 million people vaccinated in a year. Either way it's fairly irrelevant given the role out numbers we have seen so far! How o...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

I read something by a Spanish expert. If I remember correctly he said if you had one person able to do a vaccination every five seconds and they worked none stop day and night, it would take 380 years to vaccinate 20 million people. Ergo 380 centres would take a year. So it is a big logistical probl...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Agree. We will just be on another three weeks of lockdown ad infinitum. Italy are brave saying end of April. They must have assessed the risk of civil disobedience. A friend ( who is an accountant) says once everyone is vaccinated things will be back to normal! So some folk will believe they are inv...

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain

How would that work though.? Going somewhere like Haiti. You need xxxx vaccine. Best for you to have it. Do you need it to travel? Covid vaccine. You suddenly decide to travel, could you get a Covid vaccination? Would you get a QR code or slip of paper to prove it? Plus the vaccine alleviates sympto...

Re: Shingles

Like most rural villages, ours has what I would call loosely a “ herbalist”. She was adamant that she could cure my other half’s shingles which affected her face and an eye. Neighbours were similarly adamant cure works. Apparently she empties gunpowder from a shell and flicks it on the affected area...

Re: Coronavirus

Point taken about mix and match! Interesting how the UK are trying to keep the South Africa variant ( that the vaccines might not work on) out. I read that the EU are considering similar measures. The British variant was tracked back to a case in Autumn. How many new variants are there out there in ...

Re: Coronavirus

EU has just bought another 300 million doses of the BionTech Pfizer vaccine. There is a rolling profile of when they come available. This is for the EU.

Regarding possibility of wrong second jab. Surely that is just down to record keeping. Fingers crossed.

Re: 5G in Spain

Mark , do you use DNS to stream Sky ( football).?

I find that Movistar change your 4G ip quite regularly and so you might get an hour or three before smart dns is inactive. Maybe Sky works due to agreement up to end Dec 2020 to be able to use Sky on ones travels. Does it still work this January.

Re: Travel Covid requirements

I think you can also anticipate holidays and flights NOT being discounted when( if?) we are able to holiday again. Operators will be wanting to claw back money lost and there will be such a pent up demand they will be able to charge. If a few airlines have gone bust or mothballed parts of their flee...
