Re: Just to ask.........
I think its a lack of salt, probably due to the hot weather there. Drink plenty and maybe try some rehydration powder drinks?!

Re: Sending money to Spain
I wouldn't send it in the post, even if registered. My husband sent me 400 € a while back and the envelope arrived but when I opened it it had been opened at the end and restuck - we only got 100 back from the post office because apparently that is all the insurance covered us for even though he was...

Re: claiming unemployment benefit and mortgages
Tartan Bar, ignore him! There are some people that don't want to contribute to forums just lurk about and criticise people when they try to help. I knew what was being said, it doesn't take a genius to work through any spelling mistakes. I think the nit picking JAWG was totally unjust. This forum is...

Re: Is 19th March a bank holiday?
Think it depends on area. Our schools are shut today (puente) and tomorrow for San Patricio as it is our Patron Saint, but the village 3 kms away is open for business as normal. To my knowledge, schools are open on Thurdays, but who knows, we only usually find out a day before!

You also forgot the multiple 'free' bank/garage/pharmacy...etc etc calenders up hung on every spare random nail in the walls and the obligatory bed on the landing! Or did I miss it in the great list?

Re: Autonomo
I am autonomo but leaving Spain very shortly. Is there any easy way of cancelling the monthly payment/autonomo myself? I asked my Gestoria to do it for me and he wants nearly 300 € for the privilage! What happens if I just close my account and do nothing? I have also missed a few payments down to no...

Re: FREE TO GOOD HOME - Staffy / Bull Mastiff
Perhaps he has no passport and the owners can't wait for it to be done? If that is the reason it would be worth investigating someone fostering it until the paperwork is done and if the reason was that they couldn't take it because of housing problems then I would, like Scot said, be tempted to take...

Re: Water meter ?
As far as I know, the meter readers for water and electric are not allowed to enter your premises, so the meters must be readable from public land, without them having to bend down too far or use anything to reach up - health & safety and lack of insurance cover should they either damage someth...

Re: I want to go Home to UK!
Oh god, as usual, someone can't post a comment about something without someone picking holes in it. I don't know there inner feelings, I am not a psychiatrist, and I don't particulary care if they are coming out with comments like "'Why on earth do you want to come back, I have just been to Spa...

Re: I want to go Home to UK!
Ok, perhaps I overgeneralised, but in my experience all the people that are asking why I want to return and that I must be mad fall into that category.

Re: I want to go Home to UK!
We have decided to return also after 5 years of being here. On hindsight I haven't been happy here for over a year, I put it to the back of my mind thinking that it would be impossible to return and disrupt the childrens education etc until I posted here. I had some lovely pms from people that had d...

I wouldn't say that it smells like chocolate, it is the most revolting smelling tree that I have ever come accross. If you have a wasp allergy, don't get one, they attract swarms of them.

He is beautiful, wish I could but we are heading back to England
When we got a dog it was between a Newfoundland or a Dogue de Bordeuax but we decided (very happily) on a DDB, sadly we lost her just before Christmas aged 7.

Re: never again! Spanish hairdressers!
I know exactly what you are saying!! We are returning to the UK at some point this year and I have vowed never to go to a hairdressers here again. I have spent 5 years of my life walking around looking like Rod Stewart. When needed I trim my fringe itself and let the rest go wild. The sides of my ha...
