Re: Replating Spanish car in the Uk
I returned to live in the UK in 2014 and as my Spanish registered left hand car was less than 2 years old I planned to re-register it in the UK. I fully investigated the procedure involved (as fully documented by White Horse) and the most expensive part for me would have been the changes needed to t...

Re: Moving to UK-
We have been back in the UK now for just over 4 years after living in Spain for 10 years. Very content to be back. Do we miss Spain? Not really. Of course there may be one of those "Wish you were here" type programmes on the TV now and again and we have nostalgic thoughts about sunny days,...

Re: UK car insurance & no claims
Since my first car in 1964 I have always insured with LV (or Frizzells who were taken over by LV) so they have a very lengthy record of my driving history and lack of claims. I daresay that influenced them when I took out a policy on return from Spain. I have no plans to leave them in the future so,...

Re: UK car insurance & no claims
I had no problems in getting the maximum NCB from Liverpool Victoria (LV) when I returned to the U.K. four years ago. I was with them before moving to Spain ten years previously and had the maximum NCB at that time. I had the maximum NCB with Linea Directa during the time in Spain but was not asked ...

Re: Cartama? Alora?
Before we settled on Alora all those years ago we spent some time researching coast -v- inland. Much to be said for both but having hoards of tourists to battle with on the coast rather put us off. Never regretted it.

Maybe, but it's a bit irrelevant to the information they want about a future retirement location.

Re: Cartama? Alora?
elusive - think you need to re-read para2 of the OP regarding where Gib Police may live! Emma-louise - we lived in Alora for 10 years before selling up and returning to the UK four years ago. I can recommend it as a pleasant place to live with a particular advantage in having the train service to Ma...

Re: Tourism
I guess that’s a prediction as we are still in 2018! Can’t say I’ve read or heard about such a prediction but if true there could be a number of reasons not least the implications (if any) of Brexit on travel to EU countries. Also, why would one go on holiday to somewhere where the locals don’t want...

Re: Does Anyone know what happens to Expats after March 2019?
Controlling the UK borders was one of the cornerstones of the Brexit Campaign so it is hardly surprising that the Government is concentrating on the status of EU citizens in the UK. I would expect nothing less! As to the postion of UK citizens living in the EU, they will, at the very least, be cover...

Re: 20 Shades of Green.......
Two things weather wise that we have NOT missed since leaving Spain are- The dreadful summer heat (we seemed to hibernate from June onwards!) The freezing house where we struggled to keep warm during Dec - Feb. Before moving to Spain we never owned an electric blanket. Brought it back but have never...

Re: travel from uk to malaga
If you take a look at the web site mentioned it will be come clear which overnight option suits you. Basically there are two trains daily from Paris to Barcelona so it depends which time train you take. The morning train from Paris leaves at 10.07 which means staying the previous evening in Paris. T...

Re: travel from uk to malaga
When we lived in Spain we travelled to and from the U.K. by train many times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Far more civilised than modern day air travel! Admittedly more expensive and a much slower journey but if you accept those constraints, well worth it. Take a look at the “man in seat 61” web site,...

Re: Spain isnt cheap
We have been back in the U.K. now for almost three years and the comparative costs really play no part in our daily lives. It seems rather pointless in trying to make comparisons - you pay whatever it costs in the country you choose to live in! Making comparisons based on a short holiday to either C...

Re: Changing Spanish license to a UK one
Miro, yes I was surprised by car insurance in Spain even if it included breakdown cover. Water rates are higher here I agree but then we get an uninterrupted supply that you can drink from the tap so, a price well worth paying! Eating out is something we chose not to do regularly here, we do it only...
