Re: Moving to Andalucia next Feb

Hi, We want to move to Andalucia Feb 2014 and would rather learn from your collective experiences than make too many mistakes ourselves. We want to rent long term and need to know any pitfalls. Well, the biggest "pitfall" for your situation is that the spanish economy might recover and proeprty pri...

Re: house value

But estate agents aren't in the business of valuing people's houses. That's why I said the prices are all over the place. They have no idea . As you say, they dangle a price and hope you'll bite. Yes, exactly right. But the prices they gave you weren't the price that they thought the house would se...

Re: house value

When we asked a few estate agents a few years ago, the prices were all over the place. There was a difference of €100,000 between the lowest and the highest guesstimate. They really don't have a clue right now. But estate agents aren't in the business of valuing people's houses. Their job is to get...

Yeah, it beats me. :?
But being a selfless individual, I'm willing to make a huge personal sacrifice. Give me a £2 M bonus and I'll tell you if it helps me do my job, or not.

Though given the "typical" :D spanish practice of just chucking their rubbish all over the countryside, I'm quite glad there isn't a source of radioactive waste anywhere near me.

Re: GR7 From Granada to Las Alpujarras

Have you got the book? ISBN 9781852845070. The girls who wrote it took 60 days to walk the whole stretch. So I guess you could do a fair bit of it in a month. Whether November would be as good a choice as (say) May I wouldn't like to guess. The book does detail the places they stayed en route, compl...

Well, I'm easily bought - but the house isn't for sale (possibly the only one in the whole of Spain that isn't  )

Not at all. Depending on how long you live, it works out at less than €1 per week.

What an ignorant comment. There's nothing wrong with caves houses. Cool in the summer without the need for air-con, ecological, spacious (at least mine is) and low-cost.

Re: house value

Try Kyero. You may have to scratch around to find prices in your area, try putting "<your area> property prices" in the search box at the top right.
I would recommend you sit down before you start looking.

Got a quote for 1100€ all-in for an single implant(incisor) at my regular a local Spanish dentist in Rute up near Lucena. Well, it's better than the £2,000 I paid for an implant in the UK some years back. Be careful though. Apparently there can be many complications with fitting implants as most de...

Not around here.
It's warmer than October 2012, but well within the range of normal for nid-October.
This week in 2004 had temperatures over 30°C, so the 25-ish's we're getting are about normal.

Re: The Biggest cause of hassle when you arrive in Spain ?

Refunded your shipping? Good grief, this is SPAIN. Considering "can't be accessed by motor vehicles", you're lucky they didn't zap you with an Extended Area Surcharge instead. Having said that, UPS's surcharge is a bargain compared with the US $ 33 extra that DHL wanted for the privilege of dropping...

Re: Oil and Spark Plug Change

I think the most important part of getting your car serviced (no matter where you live) is to make sure the brakes are up to scratch. Not just the pads/shoes but also the brake fluid, tubes, pipes and hoses. Then when you ask your garage to check them (provided you have one that you'd trust to do a ...

I stuck mine on just using the adhesive backing on the strip but stopped it peeling straight off with four equally space self-tapping screws . Still there, three years later. Good plan. The metal door will expand and contract with changes in temperature. The draught excluder will probably expand an...

Re: Radio Code Ford Ka

If you can finagle the radio to come out of its slot (not easy) you could well find that the code is on a sticker on the top/bottom/back/side of the radio unit. While a lot of Ford's can be unlocked per the above link, some (mine included, grrrr) have a "factory" setting. I had to pay some guy on e*...
