Re: €78 million euro millions winner in malaga

Tax ?

Reminds me of the old joke.

Two Jewish chaps are walking down the road, and one picks up a wage packet lying in the street...

The other one said, you were lucky !

He said, "Lucky , look at the tax I paid " ?

Re: Non Resident bank accounts

I am paying Eur 35 a quarter, which is something I can live with. Not quite sure why they are not charging me eur 60 per quarter, which I believed would happen. Sometimes it is the devil you know. I am all for the easy life, too much hassle changing standing orders etc. Most banks seems to be moving...

Horses for courses I suppose.

In Lebrija, no calcium whatsoever.

Here in deepest Hampshire, I need to descale kettles once a month. Sometimes just use a lemon, which partially works.

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Point taken about exchange rates Paddy, and the difference over time. However, still not sure say, if CaixaBank would hit me with fees if I used Revolut say. I do know the small amount I tried a few days ago with WISE, hit my account without any fees deducted. If no fees, you can of course do small ...

steve_w wrote: Tue Apr 13, 2021 4:53 pm One advantage that Wise has over Revolut (if you are a UK resident) is that it gives you a Belgian (BE) IBAN for your Euro account. Revolut gives you a UK (GB) IBAN.

Would this mean, that you are likely to be charged a fee by the receiving Spanish bank, if using a UK IBAN ?

Guess it is who you are happy with.

Say with difference of EUR 3/4 in £1000. I will confess, I can't get too excited.

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Wow ! The things you learn on andalucia.com. WISE transfer : As an experiment, I looked up the rate for transferring £100 in Euros to my account. It was quoted as 1.1446. At the same time, I looked up the rate on Caxton FX, which quoted 1.1280 ( and remember you will pay some fee to take this money ...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Guess you are right. I was able to use my Caxton currency card for years without any additional charges at the "cash point". I noticed the last time I was in Spain ( not in the last 15 months or so of course ), I was only able to find one bank that was not charging. Name escapes me for now...

Beachcomber wrote: Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:17 pm It is not that the rules have changed. It is going up because fiscal residents of the United Kingdom are no longer fiscal residents of an EU member state.
So I guess some people I know with Irish passports, but resident / tax payers in the UK, would still need to pay the 24%.

Bit early to be thinking about paying this yet, and hopefully this year, I will be able to present the forms to the bank myself.

However, is the 19% element good for 2020 ?

Hi, I have been paying my non resident Tax each year through an agency. However their fees are quite high and I was thinking of completing it myself and taking it to the bank to pay when we are next over in Spain in December. I have been looking online for the right form but I cannot find the type ...
