Re: Covid Restrictions Andalucia

Guardia Civil were out in force yesterday around crossroads at Puente don Manuel ... we could go to the English store and Spanish supermarket et al but the bakery, which is the other side of the main road, was out of bounds as it is in Periana municipality!

Re: Coronavirus

'business as usual' ... I hope with all my heart that we don't go back to 'business as usual' ... we have made such a mess of this planet and we are paying for that and we should start rethinking just about everything we do ...

Re: ?fish for a small pond?

yes there are a few frogs ... I came across a large toad ayer when I was messing about down there ...also used to be crayfish, water snakes, terrapins ... and, as I said earlier, the small fishes have moved themselves a little downstream but are still alive and well ... today I am going to see if I ...

Re: ?fish for a small pond?

thanks for that info s l ... I am aware that I need to consider the implications of introducing a 'foreign' species into the stream ... just feel a bit desperate about what I can do to keep water alive and clean ...

?fish for a small pond?

it's not actually a pond ... the stream that runs near the boundary of my place has stopped running (local farmers have diverted it to water their new avocado trees) ... so all there is left are 2 largish pools ... I was wondering if I could buy from somewhere a few fish of some kind which would lik...

Re: reliable/skilled pool pump engineer?

I have talked with partner so I may now be able to explain it all a bit better than I did before?! ... to start with I should explain that this splash pool is situated down in the pozo below the old mill here ... and the pump equipment etc is situated several metres above and to the side of this poz...

Re: reliable/skilled pool pump engineer?

I do not know how else to describe 3.2 increase to 6.7 ... also seems to me it would be more efficient if electrician and plumber came together to identify/sort put problems ... rather than endless visits from each individual ... and neither able to identify what the other has missed!

Re: reliable/skilled pool pump engineer?

feeling a bit calmer and more optimistic today ... partner spent some hours this morning trying to get this pump working ... eventually he realised that the electricity supply had not been increased from that which serviced the original and smaller pump ie previous pump worked on 3.7, the new and bi...

reliable/skilled pool pump engineer?

I am at my wits end! ... story goes: about 3 weeks ago the pump which drives the pool jets etc stopped functioning ... went to Clima Centre at Puente don Manuel ... told tecnico would come on Thursday ... no sight nor sound ... so looked for alternative company ... found Piscinas Meditarraneo in Tor...

Re: anyone know anything about fosas negras ?

methinks this fosa negra has probably been there 'since time immemorial' ... I also have to tread a bii warily cos I have a difficult neighbour who is using the land above said fosa as his huerta ... if I upset him, I am in deep trouble ... he is a somewhat violent man!

Re: anyone know anything about fosas negras ?

I think the problem started about 3 years ago when there was a sudden storm and the torrent rushing down the stream tore away the bank which had supported/protected this fosa negra ... as I said earlier, it was not a problem as there was sufficient water/current in the stream to wash the effluence a...

anyone know anything about fosas negras ?

Down on the bank beside the stream near here there is a fosa negra ... not much in use now as there are only a few inhabitants in the hamlet above ... but some black sludge still oozes from this fosa into the stream ... not a problem when the stream is full and running robustly ... but local farmers...

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world

I note no-one as yet has picked up on my comments re working conditions of Amazon staff ... seems a bit like recent references to the slave trade ... some got very rich by exploiting others ... and doesn't matter if they die, be plenty more wanting those jobs!

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world

I would add that Bezos has more then sufficient funds to improve both working conditions and pay for his staff ... and unless he does so, those working conditions could be a breeding ground for the virus ... which would affect productivity and profit ...

I use amazon but, having read reports of poor working conditions and low pay, I am slightly uncomfortable continuing to do so ...maybe things have improved since ... https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/feb/05/amazon-workers-protest-unsafe-grueling-conditions-warehouse https://www.thesun.co.u...
