Re: Digital Covid Travel Certificate

Yes, I agree - it's the lack of clarity & honesty that has put me off. My main concern is that I may end up 'land-locked' if they bring in vax passports :-(

Re: Taking the plunge!

Many moons ago I spent 4 years living in Manila in the Philippines. It was a very class-oriented expat comunity, where generally (with a few encouraging exeptions) staff (cooks, maids, nannies drivers, etc) were treated as second class citzens. So when I mentioned I was trying to learn Tagalog (local...

Re: Taking the plunge!

When we bought our house, it was always with the intention of retiring there. However, Fate has a nasty habit of chucking spanners, & I was (wrongly !) diagnosed with terminal cancer, which rather made us suspend the original plan. Then hubby was diagnosed with a terminal lung condition - this t...

Re: Raising the money for a house deposit ?

It doesn't sound hopeful, but just a thought - did you apply for the mortgage between all 3 of you ? and would it be possible for each of you to take out a 10K loan ? Or maybe if one person isn't on the mortgage, then can they apply for a loan ?

Re: House Sale

Our lawyer set up accounts with currencies direct, and the proceeds of the house sale were paid into them.We had account numbers & transferred the funds to our UK bank - very straightforward, tho' I can't remember exactly how it was all done.

Re: Pro Innate Immunity or Anti Vax - Adverse reactions, Etc

Wicksey - I was refused purchase of decongestant tablets in Boots as the pharmacist said it should not be taken together with Levothyroxine ! As I understand it, it is something to do with the metabolism. Having said that, as I only ever take one, now & then, & have never had any side effect...

I don't have a problem with tattoos - some are very attractive - but you wouldn't catch me having one at any price, & that goes for any kind of piercing too !

As I am struggling & yet unable to claim any benefits, I would very likely 'dob them in' - it pi$$es me off how some people are happy to cheat, and then gloat about it :-(

Re: Leaving our house to my son

My late husband & I jointly owned our casa (holiday home, non-resident. He wanted it to go to his daughters from a previous marriage, but for me to have use of it, after he died (& I still owned half). So, in Spain there is (& I assume still is) a usufruct (I think I have this right) whi...
