Re: Scaremongering over demolitions?

Ok Julian, appreciate that, take it all in. Also appreciate all other comments in response to my post on this thread, thank you. Yes, I have done all I can. Worry is a springboard for me to get proactive and not sit back. These matters do need to be brought out in the open and discussed, even though...

Re: Scaremongering over demolitions?

"so if you want to worry about the illegality and demolition of your house then it also makes sense to worry about a meteorite falling on it, which may also happen" Sorry? how many Spanish homes are under threat of being declared illegal, and how many under threat of being hit by meteorites? Pleeaaa...

Re: Scaremongering over demolitions?

Julian, not so difficult to quantify the possibility of a meteorite falling on my Spanish home. Katy do not see the challenge of the ayuntamiento at “charging for those”, and Spanish lad, why would I need a licence?. Sorry, days on, still cant find the funny side of your comments. So, Curly, Larry a...

Re: Scaremongering over demolitions?

Hi Julian. No, no-one has stated that our house is illegal, but there again, no-one was declared illegal until they were declared illegal, if you know what I mean! :? OK yes, scaremongering goes on, and you can't be blamed for thinking, there's no smoke without fire. There are very scary stories abou...

Re: Scaremongering over demolitions?

Ok, I read this on the Friday evening, frantically emailed lawyer to register house, and after nerve-racking few days, we have been informed that we have registered by 7th May. Do we believe this? So during past 5 years, all done everything by book - obtained "building licence" from Mayor, employed ...

Re: Buying wood for fly screens

We went to our local Ferreteria, which had an adjoined carpentry and wood supply section, and ordered the lengths of wood batons we needed, along with metrage of mesh, tin of black paint (to paint the batons), staple gun and staples. This cost us 60 euros to do our 10 windows. We'd been quoted 1000 ...

I know where you're coming from. Wasps, mossies, cat fleas all a major problem with me. I always seem to attract them, yet my OH never has any problems. Any bites or stings, trigger off strong reactions and allergies. I then have to take antihistamines, antibiotics, stay out of the sun and out of th...

Water well

Hi. I don't know whether this website might help. I've kept this on record as we have a well on our land too, but as we don't use it, we haven't been in touch with them yet. They state that they do help out with registration. Good Luck.

Many thanks to you all for getting back so quickly and with so much info. I really do want to help Jose with his livelihood, and especially as he's getting older, the old Spanish method of using a leather strap which he cracks - very skilfully, I might say - would get harder for him as he gets older...

Collie Dog

Our local goatherd is desperate for a Collie breed dog or pup (working stock) that he can train to help him with his livelihood. His current lead dog (part Collie) is 9 years old, and fears his job will be made more difficult once this dog is too old. I've looked into buying one from a Welsh farmer ...

According to the Monarch website, it states all as Spanish Lad has already listed. Additionally, it says that you can't carry anything in your pockets. So I'll just have to tuck a couple of ciggies into my socks.

We have an account with the Unicaja. Excellent counter service, and staff are always friendly and patient. Internet access - so easy, even for me. You can switch to English if you like, and they give you several options on what you would like to view. Whether it's all your transactions, or certain t...

Your advice and comments much appreciated, guys. Thanks for giving me a starting point. I'm sure our builder gave us a price of 200 euros per cubic metre, for a steel reinforced retaining concrete wall. I'm only going off my (very poor) memory, and nothing was written down. If that's the case, then ...

Rock Walls

Hi all,

Does anyone know how much it costs to build the rock (or boulder) walls, that I've seen around the Vinuela area? And who constructs them. Think I prefer them to the solid concrete ones.

Many thanks.
