Re: Paying Tax on a rented property in the UK

I am certainly knowledgeable enough to be able to offer authoritative advice on the tax implications and workings of being a non-resident landlord in the UK . So when HMRC start knocking on someone's door they'll be able to say authoritatively that Hillbilly on Andalucia Forum said it was ok and I'...

Re: Paying Tax on a rented property in the UK

I'd be wary of advice on a Forum like this Then why, pray tell, do you bother to frequent it? Much as it obviously galls you, the fact is that there are some people out there who do actually know what they're talking about and are willing to help others who ask for advice by sharing their knowledge...

Re: Paying Tax on a rented property in the UK

I'd be wary of advice on a Forum like this although I'm sure everyone is trying to keep you right. I'd go straight to the horses mouth and ask HRMC then you won't get any nasty shocks later. They are very helpful and it's no good telling them "oh, so and so said it was ok on a website forum&quo...

ryan air new flights?

I don't know if its a new service but MOH has booked from Leeds/Bradford to Malaga at £70 return all inclusive - price-wise seems very good although may have to pedal and wash up.

Re: What would you put in an empty suitcase ?

Whatever you do never carry an empty suitcase in an aircraft hold. We recently had a half empty hard shell suitcase and it came off the carousel smashed to bits. It was quite comical in retrospect as all the travellers on the other side could see it before us and they were laughing and pointing and ...

Re: The rain in Spain...........

Has it really been that bad? We were planning to stay near Orgiva in January and February but had to call it off - from these posts it sounds as though we would have been washed out - can anyone in the Alpujarras satisfy my curiosity?

Re: Under declaring on sale of house

The situation perhaps varies from region to region - we were told by an agent in the Baza area that black money is still the norm but not to worry about it!

house sitting in spain - prospects?

Does anyone have any idea if there's a market for house sitters in Spain? It's an option that MOH and I would like to explore. There seem to be a lot of websites promoting it but they also seem to be targetting potential house sitters and I wonder if there are real prospects of a significant number ...

Re: Give up the Winter Fuel Allowance?

The programme's just finished - it didn't get a lot of folks on who thought ex pats should give up the allowance. Most contributors thought people are entitled to it and that many UK residents are under the misapprehension that ex pats in Spain or elsewhere are basking in warm sunshine when in fact ...

Re: The euro - again

Maybe I look at it too simplisticly, but I don't think anyone at present thinks a single global currency would work. Why? Because there is too much variation in the relative wealth of nations, we don't trust each other etc etc. So why should it come as a shock that the Euro has had its problems? The...

Re: 2 threads - 'airbrushed'?

I sometimes get the feeling that some posters think there is something superior about being full-time Andalucia dwellers and that those who just either holiday there, or split their time between Spain and the UK are somehow lesser mortals. I don't know why :? . I found this Forum because I was looki...
