Re: Beckhams Law

A flat rate of 24% up to a limit of 6 years to attract talent to Spain. It could also mean that Spain could compete with other countries while offing an average of 25 per cent less in gross pay. It says that a person can't have been a resident in the last 10 years so your guy might lose the benefit,...

Re: Disappearing History

I will speak for myself so please don't assume anything about me. I actually only posted pictures and I too never mentioned anything about any class or colour. My posts up until now have kept to the main theme which is about statues and history. You and I have no idea from any TV or photos what the ...

Sorry but all this virtue-signalling by the middle-class-rent-a-mob is, quite frankly, ridiculous, misguided and misplaced.

Re: Disappearing History

The two points are not incompatible. We certainly will not be erecting statues to modern exploitation so why shouldn't other statues, whose darker histories have come to light, be taken down?

Re: EHIC renewal

Hi Miro, I would like a clarification on your point about your Spanish friend. My interpretation is different. Let's say that the system isn't extended after this year, I think your Spanish friend, living a working as a resident in the UK, would not be covered by the scheme but as a a UK citizen liv...

Re: Coronavirus

Yes,, but I think more tests have to be done so as to be conclusive. They are not sure if it was there so early or the samples were contaminated later due to the fact it was only found in one sample of many.
At the moment it is still in the research stage

Re: EHIC renewal

I have a Spanish one. Last week I renewed mine. As my Gestor has my digital signature, I just inputted my ID number and other basic information online and received it in the post today. All very nice and simple.

Re: Coronavirus

I am currently re-reading 1984. I first read it in my teens when it was just a novel before it became a 21st century instruction manual. Some of the characters are easily recognisable in today's context. It should be noted that 1984 is still a novel. albeit a very good one and but in no way reflect...

Re: Coronavirus

There is absolutely NO evidence that wearing a suitable face mask such as the widely in use blue surgical ones have any harmful effects....pure conspiracy stuff. Also all the Spanish wear them here without issue and its jolly warm in Andalucia at present. I live in a built up area and it not necess...

Re: Coronavirus

Had a look at the B itchute video site and am curious as to why they post videos and proudly claim "Banned by Youtube" when they aren't? Is it some kind of "bragging right" for some of these wierdo's? Or maybe it's a great way of driving people to the blogs. No better way to get certain people's ba...

Re: Coronavirus

I've just been shopping in the Mercadona in 40ºC (but not in the shop, thank goodness) with mask and gloves on and my glasses so I can see things. I began to perspire. In fact, my face got hot, red and wet. Perspiration drops trickled into my eyes and stung. I was tempted to wipe my eyes but rememb...

I think I will pop down and do mine at the beginning of August. I hope someone does it first and tells us how they got on.

Re: Disappearing History

While I understand your point, I don't think there's any reason why history cannot be revaluated to reflect current views and statues, which don't represent these more modern ideas and which certain groups find offensive for obvious reasons, should be taken down. History is not being subverted. In f...

The only ones who get Erte are those who are on contracts and pay their taxes. Also Erte is only paid to employees if their employer reemploys their staff for at least six months after the return. If they are not paying taxes on their earnings, they can't claim. If the employer doesn't continue the ...

Re: Best VPN for BBC Sounds downloads & iPlayer

I used to use Get_ Iplayer for radio stuff before it was possible to download directly to the phone. I seem to remember that for TV it was Geo blocked I am able to download successfully with an odd combination of factors If I use my router without a DNS set up, on its own or with the SmartyDNS app s...

Re: Best VPN for BBC Sounds downloads & iPlayer

I think there might be a general problem with SmartyDNS's VPN. It's not working on the Firestick either, I have changed it to DNS and it is working fine now. I changed the settings on the VPN app on my phone as per fyfin's instructions and It worked and started downloading programmes again. Try play...

Re: Best VPN for BBC Sounds downloads & iPlayer

It seems that SmartyDNS is not working today on my iPhone either. It was definitely working yesterday as I downloaded a few programmes. I also have SmartDNS and it works sometimes using the Hull virtual routing sever. Once a program fails, I can't get it to download again For TV it works with Iplaye...

Re: Coronavirus

Maybe, It would be a massive coincidence though, There is also a new normal as well. We are not doing things as before the lockdown We are still social distancing and avoiding long periods of contact so that it makes it more difficult for the virus to take hold especially as people are avoiding clos...
