Re: Coronavirus

I consider the number of deaths to be very low and nothing much to get excited about. These numbers are a bit like house price increases/decreases. Adjudicated on a yearly basis is pointless and the full story can only be collated on a minimum 10 year basis. Up today, down tomorrow. For instance, de...

Re: Getting a Spanish Passport

------- I really want a NIE and Passport as im sick of people thinking just because Im English that i should go home. Also it might be handy at the border in Gibraltar where Spanish people occasionally get through easier. Muchos gracias John B People getting Spanish passport for that reason are ver...

But, driving so slowly means falling asleep and/or the opportunity to do lots of sightseeing, watching ass on the pavement etc.

Re: Travel Covid requirements

A bit of a dumbo to miss his C1 exam because of that! (I presume your talking funcionario c1). He might have to wait some time for the next one. Yes, life is carrying on as normal for most spaniards. They just adapt and play the game, something Brits are not very good at. A good example was Easter.....

Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum

Does anyone understand car finance? I am looking at a car costing €15,500 and am thinking of paying for the car in a lump sum. However, the dealer tells me that the car will be €14,500 if I chose the finance option which is a monthly payment over x years. Does that really mean that the end sum I pa...

Clearly, needs to be cut back. It won't recover the way it is. No such thing as a wrong time for pruning.

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Not everything is as appears in the media. I've had another successful roundtrip Spain - Canarias, with a few weeks in between obviously. 4 planes and 6 public buses later, I'm still not dead. The interesting element is how full 3 of the planes were and I mean totally packed like sardines! At nation...

Re: Moving & updating address etc

If you're not going to be in your rental for more than a few years, I don't see the point of changing addresses until a situation arises that requires it. A Spaniard wouldn't change until a funcionario insists on it! Half the population are not registered at their correct address. They remain regist...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

We're renting away from home at moment so know a little about paying bills, lol We refuse to change elec and water company contracts into our name. With elec companies you'll have a few months to spare before they cut the elec - laws were introduced which delay matters for quite some time. State of ...

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain

Behind the scenes, private healthcare companies are working with the relevant authorities with regard vaccinations. I have private healthcare with ADESLAS but it's through MUFACE, so slightly different to the typical situation. But, we received notification some time ago from MUFACE instructing us t...

From those numbers, your contracted potencia is too high. reduce it to 3,5KW. This will cut your bill in half based on your current usage.

Re: No tourists until after summer

. Had to test if I could post first!! Yes indeed, I've had a fantastic year of travel, starting in March 2020. All of it, within peninsula and Canary Islands, on ferries, planes, buses, cars, etc multiple journeys. It's been so pleasant that it has restored my faith in travel after years of hating it...

Recently discovered that neighbours have registered a small area of land with the garage we have been using for 20 years ( and the previous original owners before us) as belong to them on a Newly drawn catastral . It was never on our escritura as we forgot about it! ( yes I know that was stupid) th...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

But, the problem of now travelling overland through Spain is that lockdowns are in force at local level. So u can't go in our out of defined areas without a state of alarm reason. Police are issuing fines like smarties, its become so normal for them. Also, the hatred towards foreigners is increasing...

Also interesting that the Spanish Government has now said it will be censoring all foreign news reports about Spain. So, they're expecting trouble from the public, going forward and will try to hide the riots from the world. They've already given the go ahead to shut down all telecommunications with...

Re: Legal speeding?

Effective from Jan 1st, 2021.

In any case, it's really not necessary to go above 120kph. Last week I drove from Cadiz to La Coruña. Cruise control most of the way, really helps to keep speed in check.

There is a limit of 10kph on the footpath (yes Spain permits cycling on the path) and 30kph in cycle lanes. On the road the speed limit is the same as the motorist. Lol, wrong again. Cycling on footpath is not allowed. Some townhalls make exceptions, but in the event of incidents , the supreme cour...

The good news is that we can all get drunk now and drive our vehicles ...
