Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum
That makes sense, Pamela. We live here all the time, and in the countryside, so a car is reasonably important. Had I known, even five years ago, that I would be visiting my parents in Devon so much and for so long, I would have encouraged them to keep their car in the garage rather than sell it when...

Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum
Thanks for that. I shall have a real talk on Monday and get some figures down and do some adding up. If the finance route is cheaper then that's the way I will go. It also means the capital can stay in the bank.

Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum
That's a conversation I will have on Monday but it must work out more expensive. So why did he give the impression that the car is €1,000 cheaper?

Car Finance V Lump Sum
Does anyone understand car finance? I am looking at a car costing €15,500 and am thinking of paying for the car in a lump sum. However, the dealer tells me that the car will be €14,500 if I chose the finance option which is a monthly payment over x years. Does that really mean that the end sum I pay...

Re: Chiclana,Conil & san lucar
The Consulate in Málaga sorted everything out. That was in the days when I had a house in Coîn so we were practically local.

Re: Chiclana,Conil & san lucar
Sanlucár will tick a lot of boxes for your love of old architecture. When exploring that area, years ago, we stayed in an old palacio, Posada de Palacio, in Sanlucára and it was good, well located and not expensive. One word of caution, my OH and I had our bag snatched by two kids on a small motorbi...

Re: Vaccine war with EU
Yep! It's not about saving lives or the NHS. It's about saving politicians' careers.

Re: Vaccine war with EU
Agreed Katy. The way things are going in my part of Spain we will not all be vaccinated this side of next Christmas and there are many, many people who are saying they will not bother as they never go anywhere anyway and even if they got it they will get over it etc, etc. There is HUGE apathy and th...

Re: Vaccine war with EU
Things seem to have descended to playground level with Macron saying that France will match the UK's vaccination numbers within weeks. Is it all just a game and a big boys competition, then? A bit like 'My go-kart is better than yours. It's got bigger pram wheels."

Re: Vaccine war with EU
I'm very bored with this whole Covid thing. It seems to have done the rounds of all the possible permutations of just about everything. After the recent EU posturing on a British developed vaccine — with all the scare tactics in discrediting the thing — there is now the complete U-turn by the EU. It...

Re: The right to vote in the UK after 15 years
I pay taxes in the UK and in Spain. I have family in the UK and a bank account and investments. I think the right to vote in the country in which you pay taxes is rather nice. However, for people who feel differently, it's not compulsory which is also rather nice.

Re: Coronavirus
Semana Santa is already making people in Extremadura nervous. The influx of people from away, especially Madrid and Barcelona, is always huge at fiesta and holiday time. At the moment we have the lowest number of cases in Spain and we can travel across the two provinces. The inevitable post-holiday ...

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
That's a sad story, Dunflittin. My Dad went to hospital because of a fall, months ago now, and a patient with Covid (but not checked or tested so no one knew) was admitted on to the ward and the whole ward went into isolation. The other patients were constantly tested and after three negative tests ...

Re: Covid Vaccinations Spain
I think, Wicksey, if a person is fit and healthy they are less likely to have a bad reaction to the vaccine.
