Re: Where to next
There are certainly a great number of very interesting places to visit. We used to drive back to Santander and return every year taking our car back to UK. As Mark suggested San Sebastian is good for a visit. His comments reminded me of my first visit many many years ago. My parents and I where on t...

Re: Responsibility for Payment of IBI
I am not an expert in such matters but I would refer you to Real Decreto Legislativo 2/2004, de 5 mars Articulo106. This reference was given to me by a colleague. May I suggest you research it yourself and let us have your thoughts. As I said I am not an expert, but am led to believe Blevins Franks ...

Many thanks everyone.
The next task is to convince all interested parties that as fiscal residents in UK we are not responsible for any Plus Valia liability. Wish us luck!

we are in the process of selling our property in Spain and have been informed that the owner of the property on the 1st January (us) is responsible for the payment of IBI for the full year by law. Is this correct?
Many thanks in anticipation.

Re: Selling Property in Spain
Many thanks Peter and Sid for your replies. Yes I am aware that the authorities will deduct 3% to cover CGT liability. We will reclaim this as we are selling at a loss. This is the first time in selling many properties (albeit in UK) for a loss. But all is not lost as we have been informed that we c...

Yes, welcome back Katy. It hasn't been the same without you!

Re: UK CGT
Thanks for the reply Costakid.
In answer to your questions I used to have businesses but am now retired. I still use the same accountant as when I worked for a living! The property was never connected to the businesses, just a bolt hole for a bit of r and r.

UK CGT
Before I discuss this with my accountant does anyone have the answer to the following question.
If an individual is a tax resident in the UK and sells a holiday home in Spain for a capital loss can the loss be offset against capital gains made in the U.K.?

Re: Anyone know what the cost of an X-'Ray at Hospital Velez
I am sure vast majority would have still voted to leave. Both my wife and I would have.
The overwhelming majority of Brexiteers have no requirement for an EHIC card, and the the others, like my wife and I, would ensure that they have proper insurance in place, or would 'self insure'.
