Re: Rats (yes, again !)
I had a similar problem with the well head about 5 years ago and we build a small concrete head to it that the builders mixed broken glass (!!!) into. We have not had a single problem since then and they certainly haven't buried their way in. I was unhappy about the glass after the event but it was ...

Re: Holiday rental
I did this a couple of years ago in the Malaga area. It was very straightforward - complaints book, fire extinguisher, first aid box and a lab based water test. They gave notice of the inspection and all very efficient.

Digital Certificates one one computer
Apologies, I have a very silly question.
I've sorted out my digital certificate and downloaded to my laptop. Can I apply for my wife's one on the same laptop i.e. is there a problem having two signatures on the same computer?

We have a 800 litre plastic fuel deposit that we have in a separate storage area indoors. A lot have them outside in metal tanks.

Re: Water heating
We have a oil fueled boiler that serves our hot water requirements (similar to yours). Its very efficient and pressure is maintained using a separate electronic pressure pump that enables you to dial up the required pressure. We use 600 litres of oil every 18 months that costs about €500. We've had ...

Digital Certificate and Spanish Consulate
I wanted to share my experience of obtaining a digital certificate. I need to submit some tax forms and was slightly daunted at the prospect of getting the digital certificate as my Spanish is limited and my only NIE documentation is an emailed PDF from 2007 in black and white. I realised from searc...

Re: Advice on Alora for potential holiday home forcretirement
Hi Jolly, Welcome to the Forum. We bought our place between Alora and Pizarra 12 years ago for exactly the reasons that you indicate and haven't been disappointed. Alora is a beautiful white town that has plenty of amenities including a broad range of restaurants, shops etc. It has a small British e...

Re: Water Deposit Dilemma
We frequently leave water in over winter and add some sterilization tabs. You can get them on line - they are used for decontaminating water in developing countries. However, I agree that pool tablets will do the same. We test the water at the beginning of the season at the pharmacy to ensure no nas...

Re: Track shown on catastro
Many of the UK banks have International subsidiaries that will loan on foreign properties. We got our mortgage through Natwest. They have an International arm in the Isle of Man and now I think Guernsey or Jersey. It means that you can take it out in Euros (tracked to Libor) which we did and at the ...

Re: Gibraltar
We went in October for the first time. We parked on the Spanish side and walked in. Most of Gibraltar is easily accessible on foot. A trip up the rock is great for the views but beware the apes as they will try and get anything they can off you. There is a good commentary of the history available in...

Its brilliant with Philips Hue light bulbs as well - "Alexa, Lights on, Lights 20%, bedroom on etc". You do need to purchase a Hue Bridge though.

Re: Well Water
In order for us to get our certificate from the Ajuntamiento we had to get official water safety certification. This had to be sent off to a reference approved lab rather than just to the local pharmacy. We use a combination of well water and delivered water. It all came back fine.

Alhaurin is great fun and I played it as a novice. Its relaxed and so rarely felt under pressure. It is hilly but this doesn't matter with the golf carts. I never played it when it has been overly busy.

Re: Small pool multi valve problem
If its been fitted poorly the wrong pipes could be connected to the wrong parts of the multivalve. You should be able to trace back the various pipes to work out whether this is the case.

Re: Bore hole advice
Usually the bore hole will have two sensors installed at the time of the original pump installation. These tend to be just simple electrodes. When the water in the bore hole reaches the top electrode it switches on the pump. When it has pumped out the water and the lower electrode is not in the wate...

The reservoir at El Chorro is the lowest that I've seen for 15 years. It tends to be cyclical so hopefully more rain next year

Hi Stevemul, I've been renting my place with OD for years and was one of the early ones to transfer to their credit card system some 18 months ago. There are occasional glitches but generally it works very well. I've had more bookings this way as renters feel they have more security and almost invar...
