Re: Planning to move

Maybe in 2 years the world might have returned to normal, or a new kind of normal, whatever that actually is.
Until then, yes, make loose plans, but be flexible as nothing is happening at the moment.

Re: Coronavirus

Did anyone else watch Telediario at lunchtime today? I am sure they said that the reported deaths in Spain are all deaths that are occurring on a daily basis not just deaths directly attributable to Covid 19. I didn't see the program, however I think it is unlikely as the overall death rate in Spai...

Re: Coronavirus

Is all this forced jollity to bury bad news coming out of Madrid. You know, the dead abandoned in pensioners homes or the photos of people waiting 30 hours in chairs etc. Perhaps we could have a good news thread, all seems a little distasteful on coronavirus thread. I tend to agree when 489 people ...

Re: Changing Residencia Nationality

It's an interesting one. Knowing the Spanish funcionarios, they won't know what to do, either, so they'll make it up, probably to your disadvantage. If you have your certificate in carácter"Permanente" , (link), then you are probably best to leave it as it is. Otherwise just produce your I...

It certainly sounds like potentially dangerous spam. Delete it and don't click any links. Then forget all about it.

Re: Solar central heating

The problem would be having sufficient power and battery storage to provide sufficient kWH for heating purposes. Even if you heat only one room you are likely to need a 2-3 kW heater in cold weather and to do the whole house, much more. Of course, in winter, there is less power in the sun and more c...

I'd recommend you get in touch with Jimbo the Scot, who is a member of this forum and does regular UK - Spain - UK runs.

It will probably cost you less in the long run.

Re: Forum down

I updated my own forum on 6th January and the file upload took a bit longer than expected. It does work very well. Once the new files are uploaded, the software just prompts Database Update.
It can be done in an hour or so. (Upload speed permitting!)
Good luck.

Re: Amateur radio ham

Thanks for the input Lyric, I'll be on the 4th floor of seven with no access to the roof, looks as though I won't be moving ahead with this project but I will do some local research. another question, what is a "scanner" ie for listening in to radio traffic and is it illegal ? Why not get...

Re: Amateur radio ham

I'm a radio ham and could set up a basic VHF / UHF station for less than £800. Short wave about the same. Look on eBay for good second hand transceivers. Very ball park as I'm not currently active. I do have a licence, which is the first thing you will need, so you need to study, locally. I hope to ...

Re: UK PAYG mobile providers

Wicksey, switch to their £7 a month plan. £2 a day is daylight robbery, at least D1ck Turpin had the decency to wear a mask. https://www.virginmedia.com/mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim?contractDuration=12&tariffID=1509710961 I ditched Virgin a while back. I use 1pmobile which is 1p a minute or 1...

Re: blocked windscreen washer jets

Here's what not to do.
Filling the screen wash reservoir from a watering can contaminated with algae. The algae continues growing in the pipework.
Never use plain water. Always use screen-wash from the bottle. Algae was not too difficult to eradicate but better if it had not got in to start with!

Re: Windows 10 1909

I'm currently on 1903. It's always amused me that a Windows update about every 3 weeks puts my computer out of action for 30 minutes.
Yet my Android phone has an update about every 4 months and takes 10 minutes. I reckon Android wins.
