Re: Living in Spain after Dec 31, 2020
The trend towards abbreviations etc came about from the use of text messaging and Twitter where there were limits to how many characters you could use in one message. There is no longer any place for it in normal communications and I include in “normal”, forum posts. Sid TLAs are really annoying!!!

Re: Hospital Comarcal - good? Or go Private?
My partner has to have a small procedure to have a growth cut out just above his eye at the Hospital Comarcal in Velez/Torre del Mar. I have heard various tales about things not being so great at this hospital, and since the appointment was made it has got larger, so we are considering going Privat...

Re: Cajamar : interest on units
Hi AkoAko
I've checked my bank statements and find that I was paid 4.35 'Credit.Interests' and I paid 0.83 tax on 'Capital Yield' on 30th June 2020. I assume these refer to my 1000+euros shares that I bought a few years ago.

Thanks. I'm with Cajamar and as I understand it I have to transfer my pension each month to qualify for free banking. I still pay charges on our debit cards.

Re: UK State Pension
Why don't you get a revolut card, pay cash from your UK account onto it, exchange it on the app at the interbank rate into euro's then transfer it to your spanish bank account, no charges whatsoever, I use it all the time, I think you can transfer £4000-5000 per month free before they charge you, j...

DAT Tape Player
I have several DAT tapes with video recorded on them. These were produced many years ago on a long gone Sony (?) video recorder. I would like to transfer the videos onto some other medium which is more accessible. I cannot afford to buy a Dat player costing many hundreds of euros. Any ideas? Graham

Renting out property - a new slant
I was told yesterday that if I bought an apartment here in andalucia and then after obtaining the appropriate licence I rented out said apartment I would, if I paid into the social services system, be eligible for free healthcare. I would have to present and pay my income tax returns at the appropri...

Re: Best supermarket wine
Since we moved over here to spain some 18 years ago we have enjoyed many many bottles of the Monte Plogar Cariñena red wine from Lidl. It originally cost 1.69 euros and is now 1.79 here on mallorca. We originally thought it was called Crianza due to the labelling and our ignorance. The label is now ...

Re: Autonomo and pensions
I worked as autonomo and paid into the social security for 12 months in 2003/4 I applied for and gained my UK state pension in 2012 when I was 65. I was throughout this process and still am resident in spain. Subsequently ( I think the following year) I read on the internet that anyone working in mo...
