Re: How is everybody getting on, what with Brexit and Covid ?

Yes I missed out all that but it's true enough where we are. In truth I had forgotten how difficult it was when my wife tried to get a doctor's appointment. So it's not back to the old normal and may never return.

Re: How is everybody getting on, what with Brexit and Covid ?

Apart from the inconvenience of having to wear masks when it wasn't necessary, thankfully now reversed, not a lot. Other countries have suffered in the same way with restrictions but in our small town of 3,800 inhabitants we've done really well. Only 3 very old people died from covid and not much in...

Re: Pool pump keeps switching off

Update, I realised I was searching with the wrong ref, mistaking a 0 for an O. Found the same ref on Amazon but it doesn't quite look the same but I guess it will do the job. https://www.amazon.es/Gepc-sfk0j-Interruptor-autom%C3%A1tico-regulaci%C3%B3n/dp/B01MUGZQ1M/ I'm still not sure if that is the...

Pool pump keeps switching off

The red switch keeps popping out but nothing else trips so I'm wondering if it's just a switch that it needs a replacement. It does seems very sensitive, if I just touch it gently it comes out. I don't want to tape it down in case it is an electrical cut out although when we had a problem before it ...

Re: TAX

I didn't know you could pay IBI monthly. I know we certainly can't here in Turre in Almeria. As Enrique says, there is usually some sort of reference on your bank statement which should give you a clue. I would have guessed basura but as you say it can't be that.

Re: Bank charges on pension deposit.

I assume you are referring to the UK State Pension where they pay you in euros and use the commercial rate. I can only speak for Ibercaja and Unicaja. Mine is paid into Ibercaja and I have no additional charges whatsoever. In fact, the only charges we have on that joint account is €10 per a year for...

Destruction of pump house by fire - faulty pump??

My friend and neighbour has had a huge fire as you can see by the photo. He is quite upset as he is 84 years old and worried that the insurance might not pay. It happened yesterday evening just after he had gone to bed and no idea how it happened. The insurance company Liberty Seguros has been infor...

Thank you. I don't like travelling at the best of times but this covid thing just makes it worse.

Out on UK passport back on Irish to Northern Ireland

My mum is very ill and not likely to survive long. I need to get over to support my Dad who is 93 and will be very upset. They've been married 70 years and life has been difficult with mum's dementia. I'm trying to plan a route and it looks like I'll be flying from Alicante to Belfast City airport. ...

Rights of a President of a Community

I am president of a community of 31 apartments and are very lucky to have very few problems e.g. only one apartment doesn't pay community fees because the owner absconded back to UK 10 years ago and the bank won't repossess. However, one other apartment was taken over by Cajamar and then rented out ...

Re: UK and Spain income tax situation after Brexit

Wicksey, I agree. I had no idea they give you allowances here against rental e.g. amortisation of the capital value, at last that's what they told me and the reason why the wanted the cost of purchase.

Muddy water circulating in pool

I have been looking after a neighbour's pool, rather longer than I had hoped and up to now I haven't had any issues. However after the recent red rain I was vacuuming as usual (his pool has a separate vacuum point) and I didn't notice until near the end (bright sunlight in my defence) that the dust ...

Re: Masks on the beach

Our town has no cases of covid out of 4,000 inhabitants. Very few in neighbouring towns either so pretty safe walking in the empty streets without a mask. Still not worth the risk of getting fined

Re: Masks on the beach

And I believe you can now take your mask off when you are walking your dog alone in the campo - that never made any sense anyway. MInd you a lot of these rules make no sense.

Thank you Sid. It has certainly caused confusion even on our town hall it seems. We had been told 6 could meet inside but not sure now where that came from.

New restrictions extended??

Other people seem to have interpreted the latest restrictions differently to me and I wondered what the clever people here thought. I have read the official Junta notice and it seems to say that nothing much has changed from the measures of 15 days ago. I take that to mean we can not meet in private...

Re: UK and Spain income tax situation after Brexit

Yes indeed Sid, that is what I was talking about. Thet knew exactly what my P60 figures were and quoted them to me. I also had to prove one of them was discounted as purchased with my own money (no employer involved). It was resolved eventually after some communication. I see no reason why this will...

UK and Spain income tax situation after Brexit

I know that UK and Spain have a bilateral tax agreement not connected to EU so Brexit should make no difference but talking to some friends this morning over coffee (lots of different opinions lol), the consensus of opinion was that HMRC would not be liaising with the Hacienda after 1st June 2021. A...

Chasing community debts - UK residents

I wonder has anyone who is President of a Community successfully used a debt recovery agency to collect outstanding community fees. Our Administrator tried to use a company who apparently couldn't find either of the 2 debtors, yet I was able to give them Facebook profiles, last known address and a m...
