Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum

We found at Peugeot they were offering all sorts of deals but did point out they would be different the following month. They were offering things we didn't want though, and not the things we did and would have had to pay extra for. We were disappointed that Suzuki didn't offer anything and we had t...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

Just looked at the account on the Sabadell website. Seems that you do need other products with them including the 700€ pm income: What do you need to open an Expansión Premium Account? Only two things: To have a payroll, pension or regular income domiciled of a minimum amount of €700. Deposits from ...

I'll have to have a look at that. I would prefer not to pay 60€ a year!

Sabadell moved me on to a "Cuenta Expansion Premium"....no charges at all.
I have the Expansion account. How is the Premium different? When I complained when the charges were first added, I was only told that I could take their insurance to avoid them.

Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum

A friend bought the same car as us a couple of years previously and they took the finance option as they said it was a better deal. They seemed to get a discount for being pensioners too. You would have to take all the figures and repayment plans home to study to see exactly what you would end up pa...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

You can have a debit card with Wise too. I used it when travelling outside of euro countries a couple of years back and it gave me bank rate exchanges without any fees, which I don't think my Spanish or UK banks would have done. In theory I could use it more as bank but it's not covered the same way...

Re: Masks on the beach

No-one around here in the campo ever wears a mask. Neighbours chat to each other and family groups gather as if things were normal. That's the good thing about living up here in the hills is that it does feel like the old normal. No wonder we forget to put masks on when we go out to the town as we'v...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Well no wonder people are so miffed off about not being able to leave their province when people living close to an airport can fly into another country. Maybe that is the case at the moment Pamela. When I cancelled I didn't think we were supposed to leave the province and as I was going to another...

Re: New CaixaBank fees ... time to change banks?

You can have a euro and a sterling account with Wise. I transfer money from my UK bank to the Wise sterling account then change it to euros and get an excellent rate for a few pounds. I then transfer the euros to my Spanish bank (the last transfer for 700€ cost me 28 cents). I've yet to have any add...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Yes it does Wicksey, i read it last night, i'm a bit puzzled though but that is only because i don't know what the rules of travel are when leaving Spain. Does Spain allow residents to travel to other countries in order to visit family members? I didn't think Spain allows travel for a holiday, only...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

An interesting account of a family travelling back to the UK for a short break: https://english.elpais.com/trans_iberian/2021-04-09/i-just-took-a-two-week-trip-from-spain-to-the-uk-with-my-family-heres-what-it-was-like-and-what-it-cost.html Certainly looks like a logistical nightmare of tests, expen...

Re: Travel from Spain by Car via France via Channel Tunnel

A friend did the journey last month and wasn't stopped at all in Spain, but was stopped at the French border and fined for not having his PCR test, then stopped by a police car and searched near to Pau. He almost picked up some unwanted hitchhikers (no fewer than 5!) in Calais near the tunnel, but h...

Re: Car Finance V Lump Sum

We bought a new car 2 years ago but paid cash and did not get any offers. Is it just when you take their finance they do that? In the UK many years back we bought a car on 0% finance but here at Suzuki, they did not push the finance + reduced price offer at all. We had looked at Peugeot and Seat and...

Re: Travel Covid requirements

I don't know how they have survived Pamela. The cruise company that I and many friends have used went bust last summer, a week after I had booked a cruise for this year. It couldn't have gone ahead anyway as I probably couldn't have got to the UK easily in June, it probably couldn't have gone to the...

Re: CARREFOUR BOUGHT SUPERSOL

I think they do Lyric. It's a much bigger store than Eroski in Velez. We go 2 or 3 times as year. They do some different things we like to get from there (and they do stock a few things we recognise from when we lived in France too Screagle). In December they have some good deals on wine. We used to...

I'm not aware that you have to pay for a text in the UK, I just returned from the US and I have to take a text but no charges and I equally have travelled to Spain in March and on my returned to the UK I have to take the text but no charges for the services. :?: :?: Do you mean test rather than tex...

The jelly stuff looks interesting as we have problems with dust. I notice it says to put into the basket of the pump but as we only have a small above ground pool of about 13m3 we only have one of these type of combined filter/pumps https://www.manomano.es/p/sistema-de-filtracion-de-arena-400-w-1019...

Re: pollen / Costa Tropical winds

My optician used to tell me that wearing my contact lenses would help to keep the allergens out of my eyes. I usually only wear them when I go out but when I've chopped onions with them in my eyes don't water at all, so it must keep something out.

Re: Travel Covid requirements

Neighbours have just had to go back to the UK and were charged 110€ each for their tests by a clinic in Nerja, then then there's the two each they have to have whilst isolating, then another to come back home. It's not something most people would want to pay out for if it was just for a holiday.
