Re: Endesa billing
We tracked the problem down to our meter, which is a fairly recent "smart" Actaris ACE6000. The meter displays the current date, and then the time. The time clock was 9 hours out . . . which makes a nonsense of trying to minimise "peak" usage! I'm on dual tariff with Endesa. Jus...

Re: double taxation
Quick question re when to fill the form in. We understand that we become tax residents after 6 months.but am i right in thinking we can only fill in and send back to hmrc the d.t form after we have filled in our first tax return in spain which would be around june 2015. so for a year we will pay uk...

Re: New ID Card for Foreigners
I still use my, now defunct, British ID card. I was an early adopter when they were first introduced in the UK and later cancelled by Cameron (spit). At least I still get some value for my £30 outlay. The Spanish usually look very impressed by it or else mystified but it has never been rejected. SN...

Latest update LD Lines are now doing Poole to Santander with new services added next year Poole to Gijon and Rosslaire to St Nazaire which could be teamed with St Nazaire to Gijon to give a connection from Ireland to Spain.

Re: FERRY SERVICES
Last years BF strike caused us to seek out alternatives and as a consequence we used LD Lines Portsmouth/Le Harve overland to St Nazaire/Gijon. The St Nazaire leg was on the same boat to be used on the new route Poole/Santander. We normally had used BF Portsmouth/Santander or Bilbao depending on the...

Re: Buying a house in Andalucia - location suggestions?
I'm going to be selling my house in the next few weeks & I'm looking to buy a small property in Andalusia for myself, my Mum & my brother to use throughout the year. I need it to have good transport links for my Mum & be relatively close to the sea, though further inland is also a possi...

Re: Buying a house in Andalucia - location suggestions?
OK, you've specified Andalucia, and that you need good transport links. That narrows it down considerably. Let's take the transport situation. The only airport in Andalucia that has reliable, year-round flights to multiple UK airports is Malaga. Other airports have some, but to a restricted (or zer...

Re: Pressure back on the Euro
Agree completely about the elephants but Extremadura doesn't have an airport and it's the geographical size of Switzerland. Some automomous regions have five or six of the things. Portugal already has an International airport at Beja about 20 miles from the Spanish border at Badajos. It was a forme...

Re: Form S1 Translation
That's nonsense the form as issued by DWP is in two parts one English and one Spanish. I just took both parts with my other documentation to the INSS office and they were familiar with it and accepted it.

Re: New tax on off-grid power?
I would prefer to wait and read a report on this that makes some kind of sense. Information from the person concerned rarely does. Perhaps that's why A.com tries to protect us from him! If there is any basis in this report it must have been dreamt up by the same people who are trying to make it ext...

..The principle is that if the property belongs to a company then the company never dies so inheritance tax is never charged .... Are dead people allowed to own a company in the UK? If not, then the ownership will probably have to change. The latest anti tax-fraud/money-laundering/terrorist-financi...

I don't think the lump sum is an issue. Either it is classed as a UK government pension or it is not. If it is not, the lump sum and income will be taxed in Spain. If it is a UK government pension neither the lump sum or the income will be taxed in Spain. Sid Yes the lump sum is definitely a commut...
