Re: Internet on the road...
Ah now I understand - I saw that movistar were selling/offering USB modems - wondered what they were! Thanks Gerry! So, I could eg buy myself a nice new netbook/notebook (they seem to have more battery life than a conventional laptop and are a bit more portable) and use a USB modem aka a dongle... T...

Sorry but you're going to have to explain what a dongle is and does and what you stick it in

Internet on the road...
OK - planning ahead for possible motorhome purchase and a road trip (Spain & Portugal). What are the options for having internet access whilst on the road? I mean independent of campsites etc. Would it be one of these new-fangled iPhone things? iPad, Blackberry, notebook/netbook, dongle...? WTF ...

Re: Motorhome wanted
Thanks for all the suggestions. Am presently considering one I've found that a guy in Casabermeja has - he seems to have 3 or 4 for sale at any one time...he imports them and puts them on Spanish plates. I did look into importing from Germany but have been told that numberplates there remain with th...

Re: What to do with my money?!
I tell you what is funny - now that I have some money sitting in my Spanish bank acct, the staff are being everso friendly and making a point of telling me all about their latest offers every time I go in - TVs on zero % interest etc... Little do they know I've just transferred over half of i...

Re: What to do with my money?!
Thanks again all. TBH I hadn't given much thought to the currency issue, but now you're all making me think I'd be better off getting most of it out of Spain lol.

Re: What to do with my money?!
I do already have a couple of UK based accts - Barclays and ING - but the interest rates aren't great and too great a deposit in either would take me over the protected limit under the FSCS scheme...I shall have a poke around tho...

Re: What to do with my money?!
LOL thanks for the replies.
Not had a great deal of success with shares in the past
Don't imagine I'd be able to open any new UK acct, what with being a resident in Spain...
Has anyone stumbled across any accts here in Spain paying OK interest?

What to do with my money?!
OK - being in the fortunate position of having sold a house I now have a wedge of cash, presently sitting in my Spanish current acct. I need to do something with it! (None of the usual suggestions, please!) Have been given details of my bank's (Banco Popular) savings accts - typically 3-4% interest....

"Romantic" hotel, Malaga?
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel (boutique/romantic?!) within striking distance of Malaga airport or en route from there to Antequera direction? (For next week). Loads of the places I'm looking at are closed right now!

Re: Speed Humps
Here in Estepa, they put speed humps in about 2 years ago - quite vicious some of them. Then they took some out...and put them back a little less steep. Now they've taken all but a few (still vicious) on the outskirts of town out again. In Villanueva de la Concepcion, they put them in, took them out...
