Leaving on a Jet Plane....

...well a ferry actually, from Bilbao, tomorrow Saturday 10th December 2011. We are returning to the West Midlands, England and will from now on only visit Andalucia on holiday. We have sold our house and although the sale has not yet completed, we know it is now time to go. Our time in Spain was ne...

Re: 5 year gas certificate renewal

Thanks, I have advised them to change their name for the contract, but that is not the same as having to have a new Certificate done. Obviously I read the post wrong and misinterpreted what it was saying.

Thanks for the clarification.

Re: 5 year gas certificate renewal

I have been reading through this discussion again and it mentions that you must have a new Certificate with change of ownership? Is this correct? Ours was only done in August and has a new Revision Certificate and fittings that are in date until 2016! We have two gas fires, a gas water heater and a ...

They realise that now. :( Their EA lied to them basically.

Re: ANDALUCIAN PLANNING LAW CHANGES ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFF

Some friends of ours bought a small house and land in good faith and this has happened to them. They are now awaiting a demolition iorder. :( Worse, the people who sold it to them were Brits who knew it was illegal :( and had already been fined. They have disappeared back to the UK leaving no forwar...

Re: One-way Van hire

Why can't you sell it? Is it spanish reg, legal? Yes, we bought it brand new in Spain in 2005. We can't sell it because no-body wants to buy it, although we haven't advertised it other than locally in our rural area. I think the main problem is that it is 200cc, so you need a motorcycle licence to ...

Re: One-way Van hire

Thanks all for your responses. Having researched a bit more, this option is too expensive for what we want, so will have to go on to Plan B (whatever that is!). Basically we have a 200cc scooter with very low mileage that we can't sell and were thinking of taking it back to the UK. It's just how to ...

Has anyone any recommendations for hiring a transit-sized van from Malaga airport and returning it in the Midlands (UK)?

They are starting to issue them as smaller plastic cards. I haven't seen one yet so I don't know the size.

Apart from that they are just as useless as the paper ones.

WE used the guy in the village who is an official gas and central heating engineer, the equivalent of CORGI, I suppose. He does everyone's in the village (although he does not sell gas bottles).

Re: 5 year gas certificate renewal

We didn't know we even had to have a Certificate (just 'inherited' the gas bottles etc from previous owner) until about a year ago, having owned our house for eight years. Found out on this forum. Anyway, we asked our local bloke to do this certficte on the appliances while we are in the UK. He has ...

Re: Is there a free bank account in Spain

We are with Caja Granada, we get charged about 10 euros maintenance a year plus another 15 euros (I think) yearly for two debit cards. No further charges, other than when you use another bank's cashpoint. We never have more than about 1500 euros in it and top it up whenit gets to about 250.

Renting Information Required.

What costs are there for renting in Spain? Does one have to put down a bond/deposit? And how much notice do you have to give to leave? Can you leave before the end of your contracted time? I have never rented anywhere, in any country, so a complete beginner, so any information gratefully received. W...

Re: Retiring in Andalucia - maybe ?

Another vote for Nerja and Maro here. Also on the same stretch of coast, nearer to Malaga, try Torrox (Pueblo, not Costa) - it is a beautiful little town, slghtly inland but within easy reach (five minutes) of the coast.

We put ours on 4321 Property Free Ads and tutipi.com. This is our ad: http://www.4321.co.il/property/ad196472.aspx But our sale actually came from putting the advert in a local bar. We put loads of these up in various places, (in English or Spanish depending upon the location). All free, didn't use ...

Re: 100% mortgage

It was people having 100% and more mortgages that contributed to the recession in the first place. In a falling market you are straight into negative equity. Then if you have to sell you still owe the bank.

Seems crazy to me.
