Re: Malaga car hire.

Funnily enough, and it's funny how different folks have different experiences, but I have only had ONE situation with Delpaso where they charged me for damage and that was reasonable because I had reversed the car into a large block of granite!! My Insurance4carhire made a repayment to me within 10 ...

Re: Parking ticket.

They have taken the 40euros for their charge but have said the fine is between me and the police who "might" pursue me for the 100 Euro fine.

Re: Malaga car hire.

Gerry, Have a look at the rates on Doyouspain.com for a 3 day hire this week - starts at €0.03 for the 3 days with Delpaso for a Ford Focus equivalent....and that is unlimited mileage!! Even DYS has a cautionary note reminding about fuel service charges and excess insurance. The hire charge itself u...

Re: Parking ticket.

A slight variation....
I have been sent a speeding ticket via my Car hire company (and charged 40 euros for the service !) I am due back in Spain in 3 weeks time....can I just pay the fine then or do I need to take action now? Do I pay the fine at the bank or police station?

All I will say is, she appears to enjoy herself ( and she is a terrible flirt!) and the programme is certainly a cut above the Steve Coogan effort. IMHO

Re: Malaga car hire.

Check out the Marbesol terms Elusive!
Exceed 45 km per day ( and, as you say, it is cumulative for the hire period) and you get hit for a penalty charge per km above this limit. It is there in black and white.

Re: Malaga car hire.

Marbesol is the only one I have seen with this restriction - and even then you can avoid it by taking out their excess insurance!
Record ask you to change the car before you exceed 2000 kilometres (no charge) - which seems reasonable.

She looked like she enjoyed a glass or two of wine!
I wonder how many "takes" they had to do :-)

Re: Sky bits

No SKY account needed - all you will get are the basic channels from sky excluding BBC, itv channel 4 and 5. I take out my card from the UK when I visit and it gets me some of the extras - like Eurosport and Motors tv. Otherwise just connect up to your satellite dish - assuming it's pointing the rig...

Re: Capital Gains Tax & Residency

CGT exemption is only available in the U.K. if it is your primary residence - not likely yo be the case if you are resident in Spain.
There are "allowances" available if the property was, at any time, your primary residence and further allowances during any period when it was rented out.

So, the travel benefits are not for someone who is resident (or not) in Andalucia!

Off up to Edinburgh this weekend hoping for a resurrection at Murrayfield. I'll have a few sherbets either way :-)

Re: Malaga car hire.

Well, That's my trip complete and another totally satisfactory performance from Firefly, especially with the new office in the car hire hall for pickups. Returns were in the car park as usual and they had a manned drop off point. Completed paperwork, 5 minute wait for the car to be checked and signe...

Re: Malaga car hire.

Quite right Dave !! And the car hire has been great so far! Firefly now have an office inside the car hire hall at the airport rather than in the corner of the car park. No queue and I picked up a Citroen C4 Cactus - roomy and a bit more power than is often the case. Update when I have returned and ...

Re: Malaga car hire.

That is an option you have Peter ......I prefer to believe that they are working on the basis that some income is better then none. I have been renting cars on a regular 4 or 5 times a year at Malaga for the last 18 years or so and have only had one problem over that time - and that was covered by m...
