Did You See The International Space Station Last Night?

The ISS, as it is known, passed directly over Southern Spain last night at around 10.15 at an altitude of 220 miles. It was clearly visible for about four minutes, being the second brightest object in the sky (after the moon). It´s the size of a football pitch, orbits the earth every 90 minutes and ...

Bochorno gets the vote from our Spanish electrician here too, although his first reaction was "niebla", this meaning "low cloud".
Apparently, bochorno is not derived from "mouth of the oven". It is also used when someone is caught doing something stupid, as in "Que bochorno!"

What´s the most unusual animal you´ve seen here?

On our way down the backroads below Mijas pueblo last night we saw a badger ahead of us on the road. He saw us and just ambled off down the slope. We hadn´t seen a badger in the wild before. They are big creatures! It got me wondering what is the most unusual creature (of the animal kingdom, before ...

My 27 year old son and his girlfriend are over and went to the beach today. They felt able only to take enough money for lunch, and their beach towels. Are there any tips for "hiding" cameras, wallets, etc while you go for a quick dip in the sea?

We live 5 minutes from the sea but have the countryside right round the corner. I too bristle when certain people living inland seem to imply one upmanship because they live where they do. "The coast" must hold it´s attractions for some, but I would imagine, in the whole scheme of things, that not t...

Down in Fuengirola if you get a ticket you can put 3 euros in the accompanying envelope and post it into the nearest ticket machine. I´m sure you can only do this once or maybe twice, after which you pay the full fine. It may be worth checking to see if the place where you were parked has a similar ...

When we moved here from Manchester we left behind a lovely 4 bedroom detached house, 80 foot garden, conservatory, etc, etc. We gave our wish list to two estate agents out here that we found on the web. One totally ignored our list and tried to sell us the properties he was clearly under pressure fr...

IMHO Granada, although it has other attractions, is not worth the trek without the Alhambra Palace. No one has mentioned Ronda, which is well worth a visit and about half the distance from Seville than is Granada. Dare I also be parochial and mention Mijas? It is held up as one of the most picturesq...

The bag hangers you mention, Marina, are a brilliantly simple invention. They also have the added advantage of avoiding dirt/dust on the bottom of your handbag which then may transfer itself to your dress/skirt when you come to leave.

It started very cloudy here in Mijas but then developed into a gorgeous day. Mind you, no rain or anything else untoward was forecast by the Spanish meteorological office, so once again they were spot on. 8)

Well Alan, you joined this forum on my birthday and I´m an Alan too, so maybe I have to agree with you about Wave.
I´m certainly going off REM lately, apart from Barry Mitchell who is very funny on the Breakfast Show. Too much chat otherwise :?
