Re: Seat cushions

There used to be a bloke who was an upholsterer in Frigiliana area originally from Manchester, he had a stall at the English market at Trapiche, haven't been there for many years so don't know if he still operates.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Repair

We have invested in a new Dyson vacuum cleaner after our previous one which is a DC05 and is about 25 years old packed in, to be precise it won't switch on). We'd like to get the old one repaired and use it at the holiday rental we care for as their new Philips cleaner 'Sucks' excuse the pun. The DC...

Re: Former Iberbanda Customers

We are delighted with what we have to a point - ie 20mb download, which up to now works much better than 3mb during peak times for TV viewing at peak times. However from Movistar we have a pathetic upload of upto 800kb this we found to be a bit of a downer since Skyping or Facetiming resulting in ou...

Roof-rack & Ladders Question.

A friend of mine was recently nabbed by the Guardia Civil (local) for carrying ladders which were about 2ins over the length of his car, he had tied a rag to the end of the ladder but was told by the that anything transported on a roof rack that overlaps the car length must carry an official warning...

Re: Former Iberbanda Customers

Just an update We continued using Iberbanda up until today despite the fact that they were closing all their transmitters by Summer 2017. We did get a letter from Movistar stating that they had bought out Iberbanda but are still providing the same service at the same spec and rates in December 2017....

Former Iberbanda Customers

We as Iberbanda users didn't panic when we got notice of Iberbanda folding in. In view of this we never lost our internet/landline connection as threatened at the time, but just got a letter stating that the company had been bought out (absorbed) by Telefonica Movistar. Nothing has changed for us, t...

Gas Estufas

Time to purchase a new gas estufa There are two types (I think) Radiant - usually have 3 ceramic elements Catalytic - have a large rectangular catalyst pad with mesh I've used both of these types in the past - I found the radiant type to be noisy as well as the elements not glowing. The catalytic gi...

Re: New Car First Service

On many cars it can be as high as 30000km or two years. What model of car is it? Sid I have s Suzuki S-Cross 4x4. - The first service is free, I should imagine not much needs doing after only 2000km probably just an oil change, check the tension on the drive belt and a general visual check. Experie...

New Car First Service

I have been instructed that my first service is due after 2,000km or 3 months on my brand new car - Is this the norm, I thought 15,000km to 20,000km or 1year was an average figure? Also I bought my car at a dealership a fair distance from where I live as I got a slightly better deal from my nearer d...

Re: Bed & Breakfast Loja

MGentle - Are you stopping over for one, two nights or longer? I've stayed in the Manzanil Hotel opposite Mercadona just for two nights, it was very tired this was reflected in the price, breakfast was in the bar on the ground floor. The Almazara is a very pleasant hotel in nice surroundings, last t...

Gibraltar

Is Gibraltar worth a visit? I've lived in Andalusia for fourteen years now but not ventured that way. Just checking out the hotels on the peninsula for a one-night stay, they are very few and very pricey. Is it worth staying for than one night nearby this side of the border or taking a day trip with...

Re: Ryanair luggage change

As far as I know Ryanair allow so many priority barding places, so I assume they have calculated that if all these 100 or so people took on board their maximum allowance then there would be room in all the overhead lockers for all their items, the non priority will just have to take a chance. Don't ...

Re: Second hand furniture around Lucena/Rute

Maskeuros in Lucena has now folded in. It was part of a small chain of stores buying and selling second hand goods. After a search on google it looks as though the stores in Alcala La Real, and Granada have taken the same route.

Re: UPS battery

I remember reading somewhere that the batteries in a UPS are same as those used on motorcycles, maybe you could try a Moto Store for a replacement battery. We too are in the campo and have very short outages daily usually around 9am, otherwise they are are longer and can last hours during bad weathe...

Just read in the newspaper that gas prices are taking huge hike mid January and electricity a moderate rise. (at the moment the report states that the current price is 14.45€ for butane, I have just paid 52.50€ for 3 bottles at 17.50€ each. :wtf: Is the 14.45€ before the vendor slaps on their commis...
