Rustic Shelving?

In these Spanish ´House' Magazines Casa de Campo etc I often see shelving for kitchens and living rooms made from what looks like blocks of plaster, some of them are of considerable length, surely they cant support too much weight (pots & pans etc). Or, are they made of those long flat ceramic brick...

What about cleaning the the soot from inside the flue?

I believe there is a sachet that you put into the fire that makes the soot into a crumbly consistancy that breaks off and falls into the estufa?

What is it called and where can I get it?

Wind turbine?

Does anyone out there have or know anything about wind turbines. We are in the campo, it is virtually impossible to getting any more than our 1.2Kw allocation without forking out a huge sum of money to Sevillana. I read an article somewhere in a UK mag that as well as getting planning permission, an...

Pool Edges Cleaning

Another pool question! Probably answered some where in the archives! What is the best product for cleaning pool edges? I recently cleaned a 8x4 concrete pool after heavy usage by 12 teenagers, they must have been slapping on sun lotion big style, I think this resulted in the brown tide mark around t...

Wooden Fence Posts

Wooden Post (rustic style) supplied by garden centres are weather treated in some way but over time they will split. Is there a mastic that can be used (preferably transparent) that I can use to fill the gaps and protect the wood from insects and rain penetration. Also for splits in the roof beams i...

Haunted Pool Pump

I look after a number of pools, but this particular pool pump runs for about an hour then swithches off for about 30secs then comes back on for about 2 mins, it does this continuously about 12 or so times then comes on and runs OK continuously for the remainder of its cycle. I thought this may be an...

I recently met a guy who was coming out here to put a deposit on a piece of land with a ruin on it (inland). I arranged to see the ruin with him, I was concerned. because the agent he used said he could have a 3 bedroomed 2 storey house built on the foortprint for only 90,000euros. I advised him to ...

Yes, your best bet is Tangiers, Morocco. We tried to get away from our village last year during those weeks, we thought heading for the coast was a good option only to find hotels were booked-up or closed, the ones that did have vacancies were expensive. Believe it or not even the Spanish like to ge...
