Re: Spanish Driving licence Photo

Yep, but a good example of not assuming everyone follows UK standards.. I was smiling on my old Irish passport too; they only changed that to no smiling in the last decade (I assume to meet biometric face scanning standards).

Re: Bank charges from Deutsche bank

The second one is definitely a bit of a rip-off, but quite legal. You are required to prove your residence status to your bank by producing a relevant certificate. If you don't, they can apply for one on your behalf - and charge you nicely for doing it! Not this is tax/fiscal residence, so from Haci...

Not true for driving licences in Spain. Girlfriend was even told to smile by woman taking it!

Re: Changing to Spanish driving licence

I got mine within a month, but used a regional firm of gestors to do it. They supposedly had people chasing trafico every day, which is reasonable to imagine if they are popping in there all the time for other business.

Re: Evidence for adding girlfriend to padron - no rent paid, no bills

Hey, been moving house! Well, I tried contacting the town hall but they never replied. Lawyer suggested just trying the online form for me but yes we would need to get everything to sign for g/friend so I'm holding off until family are all together. In the meantime we've just set up a postal redirec...

OpenBank is part of Santander too, if that's something you don't want.

It may be worth looking at the online banks as I assume they will have much lower charges. Service in English may be another matter.

Re: Bank Charges

Aside from cash machines, I just had some bumpf from Sabadell which seems to suggest they are going to start charging a maintenance for their previously free salary-deposit current account. Seems to all be going the same way, paying banks for the service of holding our money (already the case in man...

They seem to be calculated differently. If you look here https://www.dieselogasolina.com/CALCULAR-PRECIO-IMPUESTO-CIRCULACION-IVTM.HTML then it seems that IVTM tax is based on CV, which I called power. The matricula / registration tax seems to be the one based on emissions. https://www.dieselogasoli...

Re: Headlamp adaptors for lhd car in uk

I got stopped in France just before we crossed into Belgium. They asked me some questions such as where I was going and asked me if I was travelling with more than 10,000 Euros. I wasn't until about a week later when we were on the ferry crossing into the UK, did I realise that France requires driv...

Re: Headlamp adaptors for lhd car in uk

Incidentally, we're doing Santander - Plymouth this Wednesday. I didn't know they had a revised service; that might explain why so many ferries were fully booked. I wonder if a ship with 3/4 engines is also running at reduced capacity.

Re: Bringing a UK car to Andalucia

I did it two years ago in northern Spain and posted this to another thread: CoC cost: 100€ - Toyota CoC (in English), was accepted by ITV station without any question. It's Spanish law that a Euro CoC is valid - ignore people who say it isn't. I can find the BoE reference if you come up against prob...

Re: Headlamp adaptors for lhd car in uk

If it's got led lights the deflectors might not work / be necessary. My SEAT has what they call tourist lights which mean the beams rise just under the legal limit so no stickers required. There's nothing to do, it's just how they're made. You're not meant to drive long term with them though and are...

Why should they sell bags? Just bring your own, which you can buy for 50c at all the other supermarkets. Pity more places refuse to sell them. If your Spanish is up to it, you can work out the registration tax here: https://www.dieselogasolina.com/calcular-impuesto-matriculacion-coche-moto-hacienda.html If it isn't, tell us the year and model and I (or someone faster) will do it for you. After that add on whatever modifications and possibl...

Good ticket class explainer here: https://www.seat61.com/Spain-trains.htm#Spanish_train_classes Where possible and when only a few quid more I try to book one of the preferential classes just to get somewhere to sit in the station! Some tickets also include discounts on parking at the station. Bewar...

No not done that. I've probably misunderstood it but I thought the pareja thing was only regional so if we do it up here in the North we have to redo it down there. Might be a mission for another day that one!

Re: Evidence for adding girlfriend to padron - no rent paid, no bills

In Alhaurin, when I wanted to add my GF to the Padron, and get her an empadronamiento certificate we had to go to the town hall and all the people that lived in the house had to sign the form - mum, dad, me, her -- to say that we all say that she lived there. So i imagine it would be you and her si...
