Re: Adblock

I find AdBlock on Google Chrome works brilliantly.

On Firefox, it does seem to let "selected" adverts through. Eg there are always ads at the bottom of the screen whilst on YouTube, but as I only use Firefox occasionally, I can live with it.

Re: Telefonica Number from UK

Does BT have a cheap phone number to call from outside the UK?

Outside the UK you can call them on +44 179 359 6931. You will be charged as if you are calling any normal UK landline.

Re: Super cheap box for the players

Mowser, have you tried it using ZenMate instead? (See my post of a few days ago). If it works, it might well be a much better experience than the sometimes problematic Expat Shield.

ZenMate

Just wondering if anyone has come across ZenMate, a browser plugin available for Google Chrome. https://zenmate.io/home/ In the UK I use it for getting around location restrictions that would otherwise stop me watching non-UK TV. If used in Spain, I don't see any reason why you can't use it to acces...

Corrie & Emmerdale - Watch in Spain

This might interest some soap addicts who fear they are about to lose their favourite soaps. You can now watch Coronation Street and Emmerdale online in Spain (and 12 other countries) for €5.49 a month.

Re: Chrome problem

I've had the same problem many times. Also BBC iPlayer, Filmon and a live football stream were constantly buffering. It's not a speed problem at my end, I download at 10 to 13mbs. I closed & restarted Chrome and restarted my router which cured the problem. Next time it happens, I'll just do one or t...

Re: Top of the Lake on BBC i-player

Episode 4 here http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/top_of_the_lake/season_1.html It's a last resort site. Don't register and there are pop ups but it does work. Thanks - just bookmarked that site - could be useful. I picked a random programme to watch and found that by watching it with AdBl...

It's funny how the financially comfortably-off are always so sanctimonious on this subject! So it's OK to steal copyright material if you can't afford it? And anyone who disagrees with that is sanctimonious? What a strange world we live in. Sid You have mentioned previously that you watch in Spain ...

Re: Broadband Usage

If you logon to your BT account - there is an option there to check your Broadband usage. If you do it regularly, you will get a better idea as to what your normal usage is. Last week, I used 3Gb in two hours just watching a single football match. Admittedly, it was a high quality HD stream, but it ...

If you have a video camera, film the screen as you boot-up. Play it back in slow mo or freeze frame and then you can read the brief message that flashes up on the screen.

I have Google Chrome installed on 2 different machines.

Bookmarks are on the left on one, and on the right on the other.

I haven't a clue why this is!

Re: Transfering money between UK and Spanish banks

The debit card from Metro Bank is free to use abroad. You will need to visit them just once to open the a/c. But after that it's all done online and there are no charges for using the card abroad. At the moment, they only have branches in London, so I guess it's only an option if you are within reas...

Cheap basic mobile phone

Where is the best place to buy a cheap basic PAYG mobile phone with no strings attached? The main use of the phone is to receive calls. The phone will rarely be used for making calls, so I don't want one where you have to pay several Euros a month if don't make sufficient calls. Any cheap recommenda...

Vodafone - English Support

Does anybody have a phone number for Vodafone for speaking to someone in English? My Vodafone number has been disconnected. I wouldn't mind but I had 50 Euros credit on it! The Vodafone shop told me to call 22189 from my mobile - only I can't because it's not working! Another option was ...
