Re: Retaining residency while outside of spain

Thanks for your info paddy. Interms of capital gains I'm thinking about the tax in spain rather than the uk side. As CGT in spain would be huge and make it impossible to sell while a spanish tax resident. And therefore impossible to buy in spain and get away from renting. We do currently rent out o...

Re: Retaining residency while outside of spain

Whilst not answering your query. Here are a couple of thing to consider Principal private residence relief in the UK is only fully available if you have continuously lived in the house and never rented it out. So you won't get the full relief. But I think gains since 2015 are the only part taxable.....

Re: Financial Advisors...Again.

I find that people are not willing to pay for advice they want it for free. Hence the only way the adviser can make money is through commission....which leads them to give the wrong advice. Until people view financial advice in the same way they would a doctor and pay for their service then nothing ...

Re: dinero

hmm was worth a try though! so really for cash from these guys you would end up paying the interest rate of a cash advance. Also you are blind on the rate they use until after the transaction is done. In that case I will stick with Revolut. Cash and purcahses are done at the spot market rate without...

Your bank may or may not use Mastercard foreign exchange rates to bill you and may impose additional fees in connection with foreign currency transactions. Foreign exchange rates are specific to the date and time Mastercard processes the transaction which may be different from the transaction date. ...

Re: dinero

I know I sound like an advert for these guys but Revolut cannot be beaten. The interbank rate (the rate Barclays buy 10 million from Goldman Sachs) is 1.0906 now. Revolut rate 1.0906. As regards where it will go next....don't even try to second guess it. Leave that to the professionals because by th...

Re: El Corte Ingláis (Granada) Parking

There is an underground car park below the store that you have to pay for. The only way to get free parking is if you have an elcorte ingles store card. Sometimes you can play dumb atcustomer services and they will validate your card for free parking if you ha bought a lot of stuff in the department...

Re: Wealth Tax - need to declare?

Be aware that a wealth tax declaration may need to be made even if you are not liable for any wealth tax. The need to submit a declaration differs from Community to Community. For example in Madrid there is no wealth tax, but if you have assets over 2 million you have to make a declaration. So nothi...

Re: Credit/debit cards in retail establishments

Does anyone know if retail establishments in Spain are legally required to accept debit/credit/bank cards as payment. Iv'e noticed a number of, admittedly, smaller retailers in the Torrox area who do not accept cards as payment, it doesn't bother me either way but I'm curious ? No the only legally ...

This Tomtom app works EU wide (Also worked in OZ so may work in other countries)it gives you voice alerts for fixed speed cameras and queuing traffic ahead. Re: Where to Buy?

There is a organic vegetable shop near Nerja that might have them. If you leave the motorway at exit 292 Nerja/Frigiliana. At the roundabout at the motorway exit head up the hill towards Frigiliana. About 500 meters up the hill there is a tight bend and the shop is on the right, on the bend set back...

Re: Best currency transfer companies for buying property

I have used Revolut for DD and also payments to/from UK bank accounts and accounts across various EU zone countries. They charge zero for transfers and zero spread (no margin, no commissions etc) so you get the wholesale rate that banks use between themselves. They onky downside is their free accoun...

Re: La Renta 2018 UK Rental Income - Tenant Identification

I completed my own Renta online. I filled in the box as 'No Hay' meaning there is none. The declaration was accepted and I paid my tax.

There are lots of countries in the world where there are no identity numbers additionally I cannot force my tenant to give me their I.D. number.

You will need an address. For Insurance and tax and registration docs etc.

Lots of people own cars here who are not permanent residents, but they do have an address in Spain.

Re: Prepaid debit card - Correos or other

Yes. You can set up direct debits in EUR and GBP. It is not a credit card but a bank account and debit card. Now whether the bill issuer will accept a non Spanish bank account is another question. Again as I said above Spain is the only country I know in the EU that has this practice. It is illegal ...
