Gibraltar Border Friday 7th March

I hope this information isn't too late for some. I have just read on another forum that there is going to be a demonstration on the Spanish side of the border this evening between 6pm and 8pm. This will probably effect anyone trying to get on or off the rock tonight.

 If the mussels are open before they are cooked and don't close when tapped don't cook them but discard them.

How about giving this Rick Stein recipe for mussels cooked in beer a try.

I've seen good reports about San Rafael's opposite the entrance to Hacienda Guadalupe on the N340 after Duquesa going towards Gibraltar. They do suckling pig and game. Not expensive apparently.

I do miss fresh cream cakes. I don't like the cakes and puddings here, seem really artificial. There used to be a wonderful REAL cream cake cafe & take-away in Fuengirola, wonder if it's still there I haven't been to Fuengirola for a few years. It was next door to a seafood cafe & takeaway, not far...

For value for money try La Salsa in the square behind the taxi rank in Sabinillas. German owned with a Spanish chef. Small only seats about 30 and 8 of them are usually booked by the Dona Luisa Hotel.

I've really got hooked on houmous since trying Tesco's different 'flavours' I particularly like their caramelised onion one.

Try this quick and easy James Martin recipe http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/datab ... 5668.shtml
and add chopped fried onions to it.

Andymc Duquesa is about a 20 minute drive away from the Gib/Spain border at La Linea. Getting onto the rock can take a lot longer depending on how you do it i.e. driving/parking  (better to park in La Linea), bus, taxi or Shanks' pony.

Jool I applaud you for wanting to taking this on and I wish you every success. It occurs to me that surely mortgage lending authorities both Spanish and UK must be worried about this situation too. Technically a mortgaged property is theirs until it's paid for or demolished. I can only imagine what ...

We have always banked with La Caixa (23 years - inc. 'it's' previous guise as Banco de Jerez) and have always paid a maintenance charge. Going back on statements to 2002 it has always been €14.42 twice a year. They pay us a very small amount of interest, like you we don't have much in the account ju...

My only real 'gripe' is about where the bins are sited and the mess that they create, a problem which could be easily rectified with a little consideration from the public. I agree, we have some of the new style bins (stainless steel with flip lids and raisable underground collection skips) ...
