Lion and Katy, You have both mentioned the poor state of education for children. Is this true? Is it really so bad? I only ask as I have a baby boy and if I did move to Spain he would have to go to a Spanish school. I was in the company of a 4 year old at Christmas who has lived in Spain for a year...

Spanish-lad you should try the Sabinillas car boot, the last time we were there, the weekend before Xmas weekend, the large car park was full of buyers and cars were queuing to get in, plenty of people on foot too. We were told that you need to get there early by 7am to get a pitch and no new goods ...

Best thing is to go into a farmacia and ask most have an english speaking assistant. I decided to enquire recently about my prescription medication and took the packet in with me, the exact tablets were available for virtually the same price as I get them on prescription for in UK.

Re: Okay, what's next

Sorry to see only opinions, but no tips on where to go. Maybe I go out much myself. Can't do 50 bars/restaurants in one night, I'm afraid. But will share my experience here from now. That's why I opened this thread. CB If it's not too far a journey for you, you will be welcomed as a smoker in Fatho...

Storage heaters would be OK if you are in for most of the day to benefit from the heat they give out and of course they are still warm during the night too whilst re-heating. They are a good idea for use on the white meter tariff in UK does Spain have the same thing? Friends of ours have installed c...

I am a non-smoker now and only ever used to smoke a few many years ago. I live with a smoker, who tries to give up 7 times a week during the hours of darkness. :!:  He does enjoy a cigarette and watching him smoke especially when he doesn't know he's been watched is both funny and frighteni...

Are there any of these down the Estepona - Sabinillas end of the Costa? Sunday mornings in Sabinillas on the Recinto Ferial (fairground) signposted right off the roundabout just before the underpass. It is a carboot/market mix about 50/50. If you are selling you need to get there very early to get ...

Friends of ours are using a cattery in the Malaga area at the moment. When they went to inspect the place the owner met them at the airport and drove them out to see it and they were very happy with all aspects of it. Thier cat was then collected from them at the airport when they left to return to ...

I guess it depends on how seriously you want to take the learning process, I know which 'method' I would prefer. I have taken 'serious' spanish lessons, three terms worth, but I don't want to be able to pass a GCE in it only to converse with the locals and I've found them to be very forgiving if you...

This CAB website may be of use I realise it refers to employment in England but I'm sure EU employment must be similar.

There used to be a charity shop in the main square in Sabinillas, the village just before Duquesa. As far as I know it's still there next door to restaurant La Mani. Animal charities such as ADANA in Estepona may also be glad of them. (Details of many can be found by typing ADANA into the search fac...
