Re: Coronavirus

Our local Spanish town had an arch of disinfection running today. Big queues to drive your car through it. Not a fine mist but droplets so notvery good coverage!

Re: Ryanair.

I hate myself for defending the man but his explanation seemed quite reasonable to me. Any airline has a standard process for giving refunds and maybe these number ten thousand a month. (He did give a figure) . Along comes Corona Virus and external forces cancel millions of airline people trips. The...

Re: Ryanair.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52498691 Some interesting stuff here from Ryanair and Heathrow bosses. A bit worrying was the suggestion on TV about vulnerable people not being able to travel. Trains, planes don't lend themselves to social distancing. Maybe that is the new norm. Campervans are l...

It isn't some fake news but actually an official post by HMA Hugh Elliott form British Embassy in Madrid. This is how stuff is communicated these days rather than go to a dull you gov.uk website. having said that, it may be there too if you have a few hours to spare. I have just been reading more on...

I am with you KL Tupper. I cannot see people rushing to foreign climes cramped on a plane, testing or no testing. People have had the bejabbers frit out of them. Time will tell.

Re: Costa del Narcos - TV heads up

It is a huge problem. When you put together the stuff we have read in the media, it makes for a frightening picture. The drugs ruin lives and not just those that take them. There was the police chief in Seville caught with pay off money in his account , used to pay staff not to be on the banks of th...

Posted yesterday and lifted from Facebook Brits in Spain. So things are moving. We know that some of you are wanting to return to the UK from Tenerife the Canary Islands, so we are pleased to advise that Wizz Air has announced its flight schedule for May. Starting on 2 May, Wizz Air plans to fly twi...

Re: Ryanair.

Rest assured the powers that be will be working on it. Tourism accounts for about 10% of the EU economy. "Germany has taken cautious steps to ease its coronavirus lockdown, allowing small shops to reopen last week. But in a blow to its tourism sector, its warning against worldwide travel has now bee...

I agree. It would though, be a good idea to move the pipe around a bit. Grey water, especially from washing machines has a lot of Grey" in it.

Re: Almond trees

A couple of key things to bear in mind with trees. Firstly have a look at what else people are growing around your place. Bucking the trend is a very British thing - we like a challenge but it is hard work as the climate isn't forgiving. Secondly the availability of water. Water is cheap but not abu...

Re: Almond trees

Right. If you had wanted 50 plus olives I could have pointed you to a trade outlet near Loja. There is a good "Garden Centre" in Antequera that sells fruit trees. It is situated opposite Hotel Eslava (on the old road out of the town towards Cordoba). There is another one near the fire station and a ...

You couldn't make it up. Governments bail out airlines but they still don't give you your money back.

Re: Almond trees

How many olive trees?

What variety are you going to plant?

What are they for? Commercial, Fill a space or to grow for eating?

Ditto for almonds.

Re: Ryanair.

I read that. An American airline said prices will have to go up. I think that is a given. The cattle principle was exploited to the full in recent years to drive down prices. Maybe instead of 30 euros it will be 300. How soon will people actually want to fly? When everyone is vaccinated? When everyo...

Re: Coronavirus

Turn the clock back several months. We, in hill olive growing land, were shocked at the plummet in revenue (up to 40%) for our produce at market. Numerous factors including the USA imposing tariffs on Spanish olive oil as part of a basket of such tariffs because the EU had unfairly subsidised Airbus...

Fake news? Missed the latest. I have been out today buying up nicotine products ( like everyone in France) and drinking disinfectant . Both keep the virus at bay and seem to be working though the disinfectant leaves a funny taste. Going out tonight on a raiding party to burn down a 5G mast they keep...

Garden of England. Thanks for the official blurb and list for Spain. That could be useful. We tried a number of the ones in Andalucia but quite a few were actually closed. Lack of demand. We decided airbnb might be better although that has its plusses and minusses Wicksey. If your friends stuck in t...

I had decided not to post this about masks until your post Sid, as it is a European comment. Thanks for that video clip. I would say that must be reasonably effective and certainly better than nothing. I shopped in a medium sized convenience shop here in Yorkshire last week. I was the only person we...
