Re: Travel to the UK

“ Go in to the local empty shop for your pint of milk and you'll have to wear it or you'll be £100 lighter.” Not yet anyway - masks are here and there, maybe 10% wearing them, none of the shop staff in M&S Knaresborough, only the one on the till at TKMaxx...coming from controlling Spain to ditherin...

Re: Travel form to Spain

That is what I thought would be the case. It might be different n a “ foreign” car.

Do the French have anything similar form wise as we will have to have a stop around Tours?

Travel form to Spain

Has anyone driven to Spain (from another country e.g. UK)since the 1st July? If so what form did you have to fill in and where/when did you get it? Is it for example this one http://www.spth.gob.es/ ? Just not sure how process works in a Spanish reg car at say the "Irun" border crossing. There must ...

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world

The problem is that as time goes on more and more people will buy online. This is irreversible so governments should be looking for ways to help high streets adapt. Rents and business rates have do reflect the value of selling from the high street as well as companies like Amazon paying a digital t...

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world

I have certainly seen the effects of online shopping boom in the UK. The streets are chocker for ever longer hours with delivery vans and trucks. Another thing to factor in the death of the high street is businesses will have surplus office space now they realise their staff can work from home. this...

Re: UK mobile number in Spain

For me it is an issue with people not being able to dial a "foreign" number or the cost. That maybe an issue after 1st jan with roaming/Brexit. Who knows. If it is a carer ringing to say my dad has fallen etc I don't want barriers. Ditto online banking etc etc asks for a number and I have used the U...

Re: UK mobile number in Spain

Hi Gerry, I thought I might not have explained myself very well. Like you I want a UK number from a UK provider. It will just be on a SIM in my dual sim handset (the other SIm will be my new Spanish contract with data etc). Or if the worst comes to the worst in a cheap none smart handset which I have.

UK mobile number in Spain

For a long time we have kept a UK mobile on contract, primarily for family interests like a number carers can call us on if there is an issue with a family member. Or doing online banking for them to pay a one off bill to receive a code from the bank. The contract has come to an end and we will now ...

Re: Masks to be mandatory from next week in Andalucia

the threads are getting mixed up. This one is about having to wear masks next week in Andalucia. If my passport ever materialises , it(the wearing of masks or not and when and where) will be interesting on my return. It seems , as ever there are three camps on the way this crisis is being handled. T...

Re: Masks to be mandatory from next week in Andalucia

DA. How do you know? I came over to the Uk 3rd March. My dad was in hospital for two weeks. During the second week he developed a cough(with phlegm) which lasted three weeks. Three days later I got it and felt lousy. Having to take paracetamol. After a week my eye "exploded". I put that down to the ...

Re: Coronavirus

We now have three threads on masks.

They must serve some purpose.

In years to come will we have mask competitions, masks to represent your family clan, town, deluxe masks, full face masks, breathable masks, flesh coloured masks, 100 euro masks?

Re: Coronavirus

A study in California claimed wearing a mask reduced your chance of getting Coronavirus by 65% . It is only a matter of time before more places, provinces, countries insist on it. For one thing it is easier to police . Had a visit from a Care Worker today (in the UK) and found it very difficult to f...

Re: Coronavirus

Everyone is entitled to their own view of life and what constitutes the quality of an individual life, my own controversial view is this and I intend to follow my plans if necessary. In the event of a death (mine) by bus, airline crash or act of God etc then my plans won't matter but when the day a...

Good point about modern slavery.

Not hard to raid dubious businesses and check details. Could start with car washes. I have always wondered why they aren’t. Especially in Leicester.

Re: Coronavirus

well that would depend on what your criteria are. Lowest number of deaths per capita for 2020 ? That would be quite easy to achieve. For example New Zealand just shut its doors. Not so easy for North European countries that are air transport hubs or even Northern Italy with all its industry - a lot ...

Re: Coronavirus

Writing people off? Every single day Nations health services “ write “ people off. In the uk I think it is NICE that decides whether an expensive life saving drug or treatment is used or not used. We have all read of families trying to get their sick family member to say the USA for life saving trea...
