Re: Ryanair.

It won't help your bank balance but one way to look at it is that you are all giving the airlines an interest free loan to help keep them afloat until things get back to a semblance of normality. It isn't just airlines making it hard to get your cash back. It could also be that fares go back to 70's...

Re: Coronavirus

A motor home is a brilliant idea! Self-isolating on wheels. I was wondering how to safely visit my parents when restrictions are lifted. Olive, you are a genius. How much is a small motor home, then? There is a lot of money to be made as well as lost from this crisis. How much? Well old motorhomes ...

Re: Coronavirus

My plans on getting back to my habitual home in Spain centre around driving. I think shares in a motorhome company would be a good bet. Their popularity will soar. Would I fly on a plane that might have infected people on it? Not keen on the idea unless everyone is two metres apart. That isn't going...

Re: Coronavirus

Easyjet today were saying they are losing c 40 million a week and are looking to get back to offering flights by....leaving the middle seat of three empty. So that gives a social distancing of what 30 inches front back and sideways.

Re: Coronavirus

Interesting article in ElPais in English about the limited return to work in Spain. https://english.elpais.com/economy_and_business/2020-04-12/wash-clothes-at-60c-and-stay-two-meters-apart-the-spanish-governments-guide-for-returning-workers.html A couple of interesting references. Re: Coronavirus

The situation with care homes across Europe isn't new news. Weeks ago there was one in Madrid with allegedly 17 dead and the staff had perhaps understandably run away. UK media have picked up on it as todays sensational story to whip the populace up into a frenzy over. I keep tussling with "governme...

Re: Coronavirus

At the moment we are all happy ( I guess ) to be holed up safe and sound perhaps with a depleted food cupboard. There will come a time though when some will be able to move without let and hindrance because they have the highly desired chip/app/papers/card that says they are safe (immune/vaccinated)...

Re: Coronavirus

Good post.

Add to that having to have an app which no doubt also requires you to enable "share location" and you very quickly have a two tier society. Those that have had it and have it and the lepers that haven't and don't have it. It being micro chip/app/get out of jail free card.

Re: anyone experience of compost heaps?

Cannot help. We tried in our early days and after two years most stuff looked like it did the day it was added. Tried watering and various other tips. We do have a heap of branch trimmings, prunings and other veg waste rather than take to household waste. We leave it to dry out and then burn it (whe...

Re: Horse people TV

Well I guess it is "horses for courses". Didn't realise it had been on before . The guys in the first episode wouldn't have money to spend on ammunition when a centuries old method of animal dispatch does the job. Still better than the animal travelling hundreds of miles in a vehicle before entering...

Re: Coronavirus

meanwhile the postponed talks on an EU rescue package have stalled after 16 hours! predictably no agreement on the richer North European countries paying for the poorer ones in the South. I read yesterday that Mallorca thought it wouldn't be opening for tourists until 2021. If social distancing beco...

Re: Coronavirus

It is very interesting how different countries are tackling the crisis. Read about the Dutch approach today for example https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52135814 All along , I suspect that the tacticians, advising the government ,are playing the populace in a grim "game" of managing the death...
