Re: On a Scale of 1 to 10 how high would you rate living in Andalucia??

I lived in Spain in the 90's. Came back to Ireland to work & educate my kids. My friend stayed on and his kids went to school in Spain. He feels the Spanish educational system is not up to speed. And then if you intend to work be aware that incomes are much lower than you are used to and permanent j...

Re: Welcome to Spain

Similar story. I warned my sister to leave "nothing" on view in the car and if placing anything in the boot then do it at a previous location . She drove to the promenade in San Pedro de Alcantara and changed her shoes for a pair of walking shoes. She placed the shoes in the boot and went for a walk...

Re: Car parking at Malaga Airport

Try Zenith on the opposite side of the road to the airport. The lady the runs it is Irene, her mobile is 619041137. They will collect & drop you off at the arrivals. I've used them to store my motorbikes. Text or whatsapp her for price. She is good on long term prices, I didn't use her for short ter...

In Ireland we have the Motor Insurance Bureau. In the event that you are hit by an uninsured driver then you can claim for "personal injuries" but not damage to your vehicle.

Re: Community Questions

I have three words of advice. . . . . .Annual General Meeting. The best way to change your problem is to change the president. I had to oppose one of ours a few years ago, I ended up being president. But at least we got rid of the clown. The problem is that nobody wants to be president so you can en...

Re: Large Community Pool - Clarification Needed Please

Are you on the community committee ? Employ a professional pool acrchitect and sleep easy at night. The 365 pool guard would be very expensive.

Calling Peteroldracer to the telephone . . . . .

I have to ask the poster if he has ever heard anyone giving out in the UK about "foreigners" driving non UK registered cars in the UK ?

Re: Large Community Pool - Clarification Needed Please

Our community employed a "pool architect". The amount of changes needed was mind blowing. There are requirements about the number of showers (shower heads) and also buffers to stop someone (really skinny person) getting between the ladders & the wall ! Then there was the number of ladders needed . ....

Re: Large Community Pool - Clarification Needed Please

Re the lifeguard. . . . . . Our community employ one for July & August only. Our administrator is a solicitor and is happy with this. But our pool and community are smaller than yours (I'm guessing) as we have 80 apartments.

It can't be difficult to email the community president and clarify what you can & can't do. That's what living in a community is about.

Re: car insurance

Peter may be confused with the reference to "Irish" car. Insurance in Ireland is completely different to the uk so a car does not have to be insured or taxed when off the road under Irish rules. But too answer the OP's question & with my 30 years insurance experience as a broker I can tell you that ...

Re: log burner

I have 2 wood burners (using for 5 years) in England and 1 (using last winter) here in Spain; to clean the glass doors, I use a damp kitchen tissue, dabbing to the ash to load it then wiping the glass door with the ash. The ash is quite gritty but not hard enough to scratch the glass and would clea...
