Arnica will help until you get to the vet's although, I hope you won't have to wait too long for an appointment.

Have you tried using plain old Sweet Almond or Jojoba oil? Cheaper and better than any chemical laden commercial cream you can buy :D

Please don't give dogs onions. It can cause hemolytic anaemia. Worse for cats but can affect dogs too and can be days before you see any ill effects.

Re: screening programmes

Beware of over enthusiastic Drs and the PSA test for prostate problems. Things like riding a bike or ejaculating can raise levels of this protein. My ex had this test in the UK and even though his PSA levels were not much above normal and his prostate was not enlarged, he was sent for a biopsy. This...

Re: Chameleon info needed

Well, I'm not an expert but do have an interest in reptiles. I know that Chameleons can and do bite if feeling threatened but usually as a last resort. If you do need to rescue them from the cats, I would suggest using some thick gardening gloves but, I reckon a snap from one would put the kitties o...

Re: Stain removal sheets and towels...help

They have washing soda in the swimming pool chemical section of mercadona. It's also called Sodium Carbonate (Carbonato de Sodio). Also, try lemon juice on the stain and putting it to dry in direct sunlight. if you can't get the stains out, make a large bucket of tea and dye the towels a cream/beige...

Re: One for the linguists.........it baffled me.

I've never done any classroom learning of Spanish but I am lucky that I pick languages up quickly. I was brought up until age 5 speaking Italian and English, studied French & German at school, picked up some Greek as many of my friends and ex partner were Greek and I also worked in Cyprus for 8 ...

Re: One for the linguists.........it baffled me.

However, in the plural agua takes las. Then there's 'dia' which ends in a but is masculine. La Médico isn't strictly correct. If you are saying a woman is a Dr, "Laura es médico", it's correct as the profession takes the generic masculine form but, if you are referring to a Dr who happens ...

Re: One for the linguists.........it baffled me.

I'd say "Que va" for "no way". You can say that too!! More than one way to skin a cat as my old Nan used to say!! There are so many regional differences and even differences from village to village. Bit like if someone asks you if you're going somewhere and a southerner may say ...

It intrigued me the difference between "por que no" and "que no", the latter said like kayno, I asked what the difference was....any guesses as to what I was told? I can't imagine what you were told but "por que no" can mean "why not?" or " because I sai...

Re: Spanish food prices v UK

I have to agree that ready meals are prob more epxensive in Spain but then why would anyone eat a ready meal here with so much fresh produce We don't do ready meals in our house as I like to know what's in the food I give my kids, and even that's getting difficult with added extras they are putting...

The old dears are quite protective of me DA :D

The way it is used around here, mal educado can mean badly educated (ie: dragged up, not brought up proper, innit!!), no manners or just rude!!
