Re: One for the linguists.........it baffled me.
I agree, maleducado!! Obviously jealous that you have such a good rapport with the locals and felt he had to give the benefit of his limited experience to make himself feel better! I have only ever been corrected by one Spaniard, and that's because she's known me for years and I've asked her to corr...

Re: Spanish food prices v UK
Just a thought, why are Melons cheaper in the UK than Spain :?: 'Cos by the time they get there they are watery, tasteless mush that they could never charge good money for! My Mum has given up buying fresh produce in the UK because she says it all tastes like water and has a strange texture from be...

Re: Safe foods for a pregnant visitor
I was also advised not to eat soft cheeses like Brie and blue cheese but, I ate whatever I felt like in moderation and they only thing that caused me any problems was a prawn sandwich that I ate before I knew I was pregnant and the baby most definitely didn't like!! Chorizo that has been cooked, say...

Re: Spanish food prices v UK
Make friends with neighbours who have their own patch of land and grow their own fruit and veg. I get produce given to me and it tastes so much better than anything you will buy in the shops. My kids went to help on someone's land last week and came back with a crate full of tomatoes, peppers, courg...

Re: Abandoned Family of puppies
I also can't see the photos. I would have done the same too, which is why I have a house full of cats!! I took a Rottie puppy from a gypsy family who were going to leave him in the campo on his own because he kept pooing in the flat!! Well, duh, take the dog out and train it then!! I couldn't keep h...

Yeah, Chufa is definitely not a taste I've been able to acquire!! I like other nut milks though, almond and hazelnut milks go very nicely in coffee. I make my own though and it's expensive geting the nuts so an occasional luxury

TBH, the treatment won't be any different if she has got a disc problem or trapped nerve. Although, sometimes they give anti depressants as well as pain killers... don't ask me how that's going to help with back pain!?

So a pack of Malboro are around £7.40 in the UK, around 4.50€ (?) in Spain. The extra cost goes into the UK coffers in tax. Why doesn't Spain do similar when they are bankrupt :? Because that ends up taxing the poor again!! I think there´s more than enough tax on cigarettes. Anyone that is "po...

Hi Lizzie, That sounds the right description to give your doctor. It sounds to me like you may have a pinched sciatic nerve which can cause these sensations. The Dr will more than likely give you pain killers and in some instances anti depressants (don´t ask me why!!). I have personally found the ho...

Unlike the UK, Spanish unemployment benefit and the equivalent to income support do not run indefinitely. You get it for an amount of time corresponding to how long you worked and paid into the system and when that time is up, your benefits are cut off . So, you have to get a job not only to feed yo...

Re: Kennel Cough.
Glad to hear the coughing boxer is better :D A course of probiotics after ABXs is advisable and would especially help the boxer if she was experiencing stomach problems. You can get children´s ones from the Farmacia or give a good live yoghurt with some honey drizzled on it. I also give this to my d...

Re: Kennel Cough.
Dogs generally don't like citrus but honey is a good idea as it will sooth and is also anti bacterial & anti viral. You could also give a course of Echinacea tincture as it is a good immune system booster. Putting Eucalyptus essential oil in an oil burner or in a bowl of hot water in the room wh...

Thanks, I have a friend in the UK who does all this mumbo jumbo medicine I'll give her a call if I can't find it here. Wow!! What a condescending and ignorant comment to make to someone who was only trying to make a helpful suggestion. Please do contact your 'friend' as I certainly wouldn't want to...
