Re: Punto Limpio

Yep - rubble could well be a problem as it is classed as inert-building/construction-debris ... can you not smash it up and use it, perhaps a new path, filling in potholes in the road?

How is it possible to lose only one station with a bit of cr-ap on the dish/lnb - you would think it would be all or nothing??
Well done, with the mop !

Re: Partial house letting.

For an easier life, if you are going to be having tenants, long-term, I would suggest you make sure you have separate entrances to the house, and even better would be separate entrance to the plot for cars, so that in effect you and the tenant-s have a little contact as possible, to keep it more on ...

Re: Partial house letting.

M*Al - your experience in the Canaries may be different to Torrox - myself I would be wary of trying something under the radar and would be happier to have it done above board, with the hassle of planning permission if necessary.
Lyric, - keep it legal and save yourself some headaches.

Re: Punto Limpio

I think it is sort of understood that you should use your local one, but we have never been asked for proof of address --- As TdA noted, there are special dumps for Trade Waste, so do not turn up at the wrong one - they are restricted for trade/construction etc only.

Re: Pensioners moving to Spain - where to start?

1 Apply to Newcastle for S1 and also then apply for EHIC from UK, explaining that they are moving to Spain 2 While here in Spain, fill in the forms for Registration as Etrangeros but EU citizens, on line, and make Cita Previa for Almeria. 3 Go to the Cita Previa, with all the documents they can lay ...

Re: olives

It was common practice in the old days, and still in some plantations now - particularly in France! - to plant three or four saplings together, each leaning out a bit, so you eventually get a group of mature trees masquerading as one big tree. Another method is to grow one single tree but to prune i...

Re: Faulty Towers Dining Experience

I thought the somewhat intrusive adverts top and bottom of the threads paid for the site. I was surprised to see this blatant advert allowed as a thread. But I can see that it does come under the category of Events ... some adjustment to the Rules will suffice then ...

Re: olives

We had about 10 tubs of about 20 kilos each - we usually reckon on an average of 10 kilos to one litre of oil but it varies enormously with variety - ours are mostly not oil-friendly types - and ripeness - half of ours were really ripe and the other half rather green - etc etc- so 18 litres is just ...

Re: Transferwise Borderless account

Fyfin - sorry for delay, this thread got lost ... back up to speed again now Yes, the online account is exactly the same as the ordinary, set-up-in-office account with BBVA - others may differ but I cannot comment on them. Debit card is available on request, credit card can come with two actual card...

Re: olives

Olive - yes, apart from him investing in the grinding machine for crushing the olives and their stones, it really is artisan stuff, but then it is just for himself and a couple of neighbours. This year's innovation is a blowing machine which wafts across the olives as they tip down a ramp to blow of...

Re: Driving England to Anderlucia

Computeral wrote - Any suggestions where we can look for a cheap base to rent for a few months in Anderlucia - estate agents ? For an initial stay one might suggest an AirBnB and if you can plan your trip to avoid school holidays and indeed June-September, you will find much better prices, and perha...

I am sorry to say that I cannot tell you the price of wood over here as we are on the edge of a group of houses just at the side of unfenced woodland, and when the tree-fellers have done their bit and cleared out what they want, we and the locals nip in each with a trailor and load up whatever is le...

Re: olives

Good article, Sid - detailed explanation there. Our neighbour does his own olive oil and tries to do the crushing within the 24 hours recommended after picking, but sometimes it can get to 48 hours as he tends to pick while the weather is good and then process as and when he has enough for a big bat...

Re: How do I contact tax authorities (agencia tributaria)?

Just to add to Beachcombers advice - do send your letter to the local Hacienda office AEAT via Registered Post - they can have a habit of pretending not to receive claims and problems via ordinary mail, and will only recognise Registered (called Certificado in Spain) and also you will then be able t...

Re: Medical Card

Also, did you ask at the farmacia if perhaps the medicines, that she usually has on her medical car (which they stuff into their computer so they can dish the meds out) have run out . Even medicines that you are going to be on for life have a termination date on the initial prescription, so you have...
