Re: Ryanair just gets worse!

Sometimes its good to know the history when making a judgement. I worked in the travel business in Dublin from about 1988 to 1998. Ryanair were at this considered no more than an upstart little airline whose only function was to make Aer Lingus (flag carrier) look good. They had one route; into Luto...

Re: changing a uk photo licence, the guide.

My neighbour wanted to renew her Spanish licence, I told her she would need a medical. She hadn't had one before as she changed her UK licence for a Spanish one 10 years ago. I suggested she went to Clinica Rincon, as I had been told they charge €30 for the medical. She had the medical done and the...

Mowser has a point but leaving that aside, I can get you a plug on a local radio station in Nerja for a reasonable rate.
Send me a PM and I'll follow it up for you.

Re: Courtesy car following motor accident.

My car was wrecked by another driver a couple of weeks ago. I use Mapfre and I got Third Party, Fire and Theft. His company, AXA, will not provide a car for me. My company would IF I had full Comprehensive insurance. I had to rent for a couple of weeks but I'm going to attampt to have a chat with th...

Re: Chances of Spain leaving the Euro?

What are the chances of Britain joining the Eurozone? For most people on this site the relataionshiop between sterling and the euro is important. For the likes of me (the Irish) or the other english speaking members, it all seems to be backwards. The Euro is a larger, stronger currency than sterling...

Re: Chances of Spain leaving the Euro?

I read recently that Andalucia nd Valencia are spending most of their marketing budget in Germany and France this year. Seems they dont expect British tourists to be travelling this way for this year at least. I know back home in Ireland one of the largest Tour Operators, Budget travel, went bust in...

Re: The euro - again

If the UK pound is not worth 1.50€ within the next few days, it will prove that the real money movers and shakers of the world think less of the management of the one-eyed Scot and his bushy-eyebrowed friend, than the financial probity of the Sp1c, Mick and Ouzo nations of the PIIGS group! I dont k...

Re: The euro - again

It's possible that the price Greece will have to pay for the bail-out is to surrender its economy to the ECB and that, one by one, the other weak countries will also come under the controlling umbrella of the ECB. In this way Federalism, certainly in monetary terms, is, as Hiker writes, inevitable....

Not only will it happen, it's inevitable.

Federal union structures have worked very well in the US, UK, Federal Republic of Germany.

Re: The euro - again

It seems to me that the problems the euro is encountering is because of the different national governments pulling in different directions.

The sooner these national governments are sidelined and replaced by a pan-european federal structure the better.

Re: The euro - again

I think for me, this comment sums it up. "You can't have a single currency when national economies are so different or where you don't have common fiscal policies." It seem obvious then; there will be one fiscal policy for the eurozone. Bring it on... but then again, I'm a black-hearted federalist ...

Re: More grim reading from the press re Spanish Economy

I was quite shocked by the number of businesses gone bust in Nerja recently. Empty premises every third or fouth shop. I think there is a disconnect between what I call the "real" economy (ie the high street) and the ivory tower that is the stock market. The real economy is dead in the water and wil...

I just want to take to oppurtunity to remind all expats returning home that the CUDECA Furniture shop in Torre Del Mar are always looking for some decent furniture to sell on for the cancer hospice. Give us a call in CUDECA and we will send a van out to your house and collect the stuff. I've been wo...
