I agree - it's no problem at all getting things delivered to a village/townhouse with no car access. One deliveryman carried a 3 seater sofa up the street to our house on his head - the dreaded 'elf and safety police thankfully haven't reached Spain yet. Often things we are throwing out don't even g...

So could Sue not have a sugar daddy and a toyboy? Might be a few scheduling problems but hey, we are good at multi-tasking, girls, are we not?

Just an idea - could this be the new TV reality show now that Pop Idol, X factor et al are so passe.

I could see us sitting there marking prospective toyboys out of 10 and giving "constructive criticism".

I with you on this one, Katy. You would be better off spending the money on shoes and chocolate than a toyboy, Sue. Might be fun auditioning a few though?

All laser clinics in the UK are regulated by the Healthcare Commission and must confirm to the National Minimum Standards for Private and Voluntary Healthcare. You can view the inspection reports for all clinics (as you can for private hospitals and beauty salons which offer laser treatments) on the...

I'm sorry to read your comments regarding civil servants as I was one until recently and I can assure you I worked extremely hard, had taken a total of one day's sick leave in the last five years and regarded the public as the people who paid my wages and was careful to treat them with respect and c...

For me, I think Thailand from December to March, followed by a trip to New York to pick up my Spring/Summer wardrobe, back to Spain from April to June, Amsterdam for July and August, another shopping trip to New York or Milan in September for the Autumn/Winter wardrobe and back to Spain for Septembe...

After witnessing the standard of "care" my father has received over the past 4 months (yes, months) in an NHS hospital in England I would not advise anyone to choose England. He was admitted to hospital after having a stroke. He is a diabetic and has had problems in the past with ulcers on...

I had gone to bed last Friday night when the OH called me to get up quick - there was a candlelight procession coming down our street from the church at the top which has just been renovated and opened as the Semana Santa musuem in Velez-Malaga. Rushed up to the roof terrace to watch the silent proc...

Sorry Wilson, I should have said that the Velez pool is only available for public swimming for certain hours during the day (it is used for classes and swimming lessons for the rest of the day, as indeed is the health club pool). I don´t have the times available but it might be best to check in adva...

There is a health club in Torre del Mar with an indoor pool (Club Sensei - I am a member) and you can pay by the day but it´s an expensive way to have a swim (it was 7€ last year, may have gone up now). There´s also a pùblic indoor swimming pool in the centre of Velez Malaga which I think is about 2...

Er - people with real/old money don´t expect others to do everything for them - what about Prince Charles who reportedly has his valets squeeze the toothpaste onto the brush for him, then? Maybe that´s who the "lady" with the nanny was using as a ole model.

I watched it too and was riveted in an OMG can these people be real kind of way. The one who said she´d "earned" the 100,000E present from her "boyfriend" might as well be advertising in the Adult Relaxation ads in Sur in English!

Yes, Rick, the tranvia between Velez and Torre del Mar has been running since October 2006 and there are plans to extend the line to Rincon de la Victoria.

I dsidn´t rate the exhibits much either - it surprised me to compare some of his work with the Roman/Greek pottery displayed and see how much he had taken from these earlier works, I hadn´t realised what a plagiarist he was before! I did enjoy building itself, though, it has been beautifully restore...

I don´t really want new friends/neighbours to be in and out of my house all the time either (of whatever nationality!) but it´s nice to be getting to the point where Spanish people other than immediate neighbours will recognise us in the street and have a bit of a chat. I don´t have children so can´...

I don´t tend to have to sell "my" area - just invite people to stay and it seems to sell itself. The first friend who came to visit (in fact he came to help us move in) liked it so much he went home, sold an investment property he owned in England and promptly came back and bought himself ...

We are finding our normal monthly outgoings (food and all household bills) are 700 per month. We don´t have a mortgage, rent or community fees to pay, and we don´t have a car as we don´t need one where we live but that figure includes public transport costs. For the moment we don´t need private heal...
