Recommendation for Almunecar restaurant

We're meeting some friends in Almunecar in January. They're staying in Granada so it's about the half way point. I'm looking for a recommendation for a nice restaurant for lunch, midweek. I'm slightly worried that some of the restaurants may close in January. We're not bothered about it being on the...

Re: Garden centre near Bricomart

Theyre at Alhaurin De la Torre. They've got a website with address and maps. It's http://www.viverosguzman.es They're far and away the best one for choice and quality of plants and the prices aren't over the top. There's also a cafe/restaurant which normally does a brilliant menu del día, although l...

Re: Christmas Day Lunch.....

We've kind of compromised for the last few years. After the year before we learnt, when we went out Christmas Eve and absolutely nothing was open, we now have a traditional Christmas dinner on the evening of the 24th and go out on Christmas Day. Last years lunch was a sandwich mixto on the seafront ...

Re: Christmas Day Lunch.....

All the ones we usually go to are. The atmosphere at torre del Mar is really good on Christmas Day, providing the weather is decent. I haven't been to Bahia Tanit, but both Tanit and Brujas opposite the lighthouse are good. If you like fish, La Cueva is very popular. We tend to eat in Velez rather t...

Re: Christmas Day Lunch.....

Irene - all the spanish restaurants will be doing their normal menus, so if you know one you like, go for it. Not sure from your question whether you want a general recommendation for torre or just for Christmas Day.

Re: White Goods Alcaucin

Comercial Gonzalez in the centre of velez have a decent range, but if you know what you want they will source it for you and their prices are very good. For people who remember when they only took cash, they take cards now. They deliver for free. A couple of the staff speak English

Re: Del Paso - Beware !!!

I've already recommended http://www.autoclick.co.uk. I've hired from them twice, and have a third booked for next month. They operate full/full, don't give you any hassle about having own insurance, and the staff are very pleasant. One thing I have noticed with them, if you have any flexibility for ...

Re: Spanish mobile

Maybe I'm parsimonious but I think it's a bit rude/selfish to use a uk number when you're living in Spain. I know you can get good value calls, but what about people who call you from within Spain? They end up paying for an international call, or more likely, just not calling you. There's a local co...

Re: Gas explosion in Velez Malaga

For anyone who knows them, Zuhair and Rosa, the owners are ok although their daughter is in hospital with cuts. It wasn't the actual restaurant, but the kitchen which is a couple of doors down. One of the more seriously injured is the wife of Jimmi the waiter, who was, I believe, working in the kitc...

Re: What to bring with you.....

When we go to UK there are a few treats I have - tomato sausage (bit of a Yorkshire thing), Morrisons cream meringues, polony, and haddock in crispy batter. Fortunately, when we come back here it's all grilled fish and salad, otherwise I would be round! When we lived in UK I probably had a pork pie ...

Re: Sliced Ham (not Jamon)

For thinly sliced ham, Aldi do one. Just called jamon cocido extra. Its 1.79 a pack. For sandwiches it's nice, it's dry, which is one up on most prepackaged ham and they also do a smoked version. I Like ham with no fat on, and have looked at lacon but it always has lots of fat in it. Supersol used t...

Re: Problems with outlook

Thanks for input. I've just used my hotmail address for ever, so want to keep it. Will try copying them all to gmail then using that. When I went to the link Enrique suggested my problem seemed quite insignificant compared to some of them. I just don't like change!

Problems with outlook

Microsoft have completely changed the format of my outlook mail this morning. I usually access it on iPad using chrome but can't get the command bar to appear at the top. I've also tried it in safari and got the same problem. I don't want to use their app as I've not got much storage left, so can an...

Re: Recommendation for new car hire

We hired with Firefly about 12 months ago, and they were ok apart from waiting over an hour in the airport car park to collect it. Staff were average car hire types. We also had to wait a while when we returned it as we wanted it checking before we left

Re: Recommendation for new car hire

Just an update. I hired a Ford Focus estate from Autoclick for 4 days, and can confirm my previous experience wasn't a fluke. Once again, it all went smoothly, the staff were really pleasant and helpful and the car only had 7 km on it when I picked it up
