Re: Stain removal sheets and towels...help
Bleach won't remove suncream stains. Vikal will. Probably a cheaper antical will work, but I've only tried Vikal.

Re: More tax bills
Thanks Freeatlast, that could explain it. We need to take a close look at why we've been given these bills. As you can imagine, I'm not best pleased.

Thanks. I'll let him know.
The company did have a tax inspection a few months ago and they had to change the way some people were paid. Nothing was said though about my OH.

He is contracted to a company and only works for that company, but is autonomo. There is no fixed remuneration, it is a purely commission based role.
His clients are the company's clients.

Re: More tax bills
That's what I understood, but I can't understand why my husband would be getting billed for rubbish collection for an office where he works. He doesn't have a lease or anything for the office, he just works from there.

More tax bills
When I went to the tax office yesterday to collect the IBI bill, I was given a surprise gift of four bills that we've never had before. It says on them Concepto: T.BASURA INDUSTRIAL. Two dated last year and two this year. €84.60 each. They are in my husband's name, but with his work address in Marbe...

Home chef
Some people who are planning to holiday in the area next summer, have asked if I know of a chef who will come to the house and put on a nice meal for ten people. They are going to be celebrating a Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
Does any one know of anyone who provides this service, near to Torre del Mar?

Re: IBI and Basura
LOL! No I hadn't realised that. I'd also be interested to know if anyone else has a bill like it. When we bought the house eight years ago it was €1600 which was manageable. When we applied for the "discount", someone from our lawyer's office went with my husband, to make sure everything w...

Re: IBI and Basura
My total is actually €3700. 6 Bedrooms plus one bedroom apartment. Certainly not a palace, though the bank manager, on seeing my water bill, once asked if I was irrigating the Alhambra. Luckily there are no urbanization fees, wine is still cheap and I am hanging on to a sense of humour.Just.

Re: IBI and Basura
I'm in Velez and mine's gone up by 15%. Having applied for the discount, I wasn't expecting to pay anything extra. I thought it was going to be the same as last year, but it's added €450 to mine.

Re: Algarrobo Costa
I think I'd better say that the first time we went, it was in the evening and the service was very good. However we went again yesterday lunchtime with some friends and the service was appalling. It was very busy and they just couldn't cope. We were completely ignored. After about twenty minutes the...

Re: Claiming Unemployment Benefit
Quite possibly. You need to find someone who is an expert in this & it certainly won't be anyone working at the soc.sec offices. You're right there. I get different information every time I go. There's a very nasty man there too, who managed to reduce me to tears one day. I dread having ...

Re: Fibreglass pool lining
If you get anyone out to look at it, be very careful who you use. We had a pool that had been lined with fibreglass, we think because of leakage. We contacted a guy who was supposed to be an expert in Fibreglass pools, Pools Y Mass, based at Torre del Mar opposite Supersol. Maybe if we'd stuck to a ...

Claiming Unemployment Benefit
Please can anyone help me understand the ins and outs of this. When my long term temporary contract ended, I signed on for unemployment benefit. They took my previous two years salary into consideration. Now I know that benefit is only paid for a certain amount of time, but I'm not sure how long I w...

Re: Reduced rate calls to the UK
Thanks to this thread, I'm now investigating localphone. I know this thread is really about calls, but for anyone who likes to text, whatsapp is pretty good. There's a very small start up fee. €3.50 or something around that, and then free texts. I think you need a smart phone, so wouldn't suit every...
