Re: EHIC cards expiring between now and Brexit
I must admit I'm a little puzzled by the lack of coverage of this particular issue in the UK media. For some older travelers or anyone with pre-exisintg medical conditions, the loss of the EHIC could be a serious blow. And the fact that "an estimated 3.7 million EU nationals...making up 5.6% of...

Re: Non-Resident 90 days in a rolling 180?
I'd say it has everything to do with Brexit, when the DM headline shouts "EU's new post-Brexit travel rules"! (It's almost as if Brexiters didn't know beforehand)

Re: Changing from resident to non-resident tax declaration - what needs doing?
Can't imagine why this wasn't on any of the usual sites that Google throws up. Sounds perfect: Probably because if you ask anyone at Hacienda, they would probably just give you a blank look and shrug their shoulders. When we left Spain 3 years ago, for reasons I won't bother going into here, we nee...

Re: Google unlimited free storage for photos/drive etc to end
I have my photos on such a hard drive, but like anything physical, it could get lost/stolen/broken, so having them backed up online as well is a useful extra precaution, and if it's free, why not? Although, I do sometimes lie awake at night worrying about what Google might be doing with my photos of...

Re: Google unlimited free storage for photos/drive etc to end
without sounding like a noob, how did you do that, are you on win 10 ? as i said, i´ve only just got win 10 at home, and would like to take advantage of the 15gb. Go to photos.google.com and in the top right hand corner click on "upload". You may see options for where you want to upload f...

Re: Google unlimited free storage for photos/drive etc to end
I totally understand people who have physical photo albums. Yes, but they take up so much damned space, and the pages curl at the edges and yellow with age.... A couple of years ago, I laboriously removed all my old photos (mostly taken on an old Pentax K1000) from their hard back albums and scanne...

Re: Google unlimited free storage for photos/drive etc to end
The strange thing about this, is as far as I was aware, all my photos are/were being uploaded in high quality, so I was surprised to see I had used up 3.2GB of my 15GB. There was an option to free up space by compressing original quality photos & videos, which I did, wiping out that 3.2GB - but ...

Re: Bankers Drafts post property sale
I almost replied similarly, but then thought perhaps OP means pre sale
i.e request from the buyer.
Otherwise, why not just make direct transfers? Surely cheaper / easier than banker's drafts?
Also wondering why three different transfer companies.

Re: House sale proceeds
There is a problem with having the funds transferred to the seller's account rather than by means of a banker's draft in that a transfer could be cancelled by the party that transferred the funds once the seller had signed over the property.... The only safe way to receive the funds by bank transfe...

Re: House sale payment to Bank (Sabadell)
How is the money being transferred to Sabadell? Be careful you don't get charged for depositing funds.
And be careful to get any charges confirmed in writing - in my experience the staff in Sabadell don't always know what they're talking about!

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world
Amazon users may not be aware of the fact that your Amazon account is useable at any Amazon site worldwide (subject to postage and customs restrictions). ...and on that point about customs, anyone who regularly orders stuff from amazon.co.uk for shipment to Spain (or vice versa of course) might be ...

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world
Boots have a box of masks online, quite a small box 50 masks for £35  I wouldn't be buying them if a tenner. Odd thing about masks. Can't say I like wearing one, but it's certainly far from the "monstrous imposition" some suggest, and will happily comply from next week. I'd far rat...

Re: Online shopping in the Covid world
One thing I noticed during lockdown was so-called price gouging by third party sellers on Amazon. With non-essential shops closed, and checking competitors' prices very easy online, it was perhaps a glimpse of another downside to the inevitable death of the "high street". I wanted a new ga...

Pay a gestor to get it for you. Or, to avoid unnecessary expense, go to your nearest tax office and request one in person. Although they may not be open to the public due to CV19 Or do it online here https://www.agenciatributaria.gob.es/AEAT.sede/procedimientoini/G305.shtml You may need a digital ce...

Re: EHIC renewal
Hi Miro, I would like a clarification on your point about your Spanish friend. So would I! I don't know, and I'm not sure anybody does. I was basing my suggestion on what FAL said (that the UK will continue to issue EHICs for some) and others' continued assertion that EU citizens' rights are protec...

Re: EHIC renewal
I understand that for many, the EHIC has limited value. I also know that for others, as POR points out, travel insurance can become prohibitively expensive and exclude any pre-existing conditions (the ones you're most likely to need help with). To me it's a bizarre situation because my Spanish frien...

Re: EHIC renewal
Thanks for not answering my question Sid. So, until and unless we hear that the UK will definitely continue to participate fully in the EHIC scheme, from what you're saying FAL, my understanding is that the UK will issue EHICs to UK pensioners already resident in the EU and receiving their healthcar...

Re: EHIC renewal
In the eventuality that the UK decides not to be part of the EHIC scheme after the end of the year, will UK pensioners currently resident in Spain be able to get one from the Spanish SS? Their rights as EU citizens are supposed to protected, but I'm not sure how this will work. And also, what about ...

Re: Coronavirus
That's why increasingly "excess deaths" (over the same period for previous years' average) are being reported by various media. Current figures appearing for UK are around 55-60,000. Not sure if there's an official source for this figure; also, any comparison to other countries' excess dea...
