Well I think we've sorted that out then. End of.....

Who's Marine? I was talking about the lads who sent Barca packing.

Quite agree Kenny. As I said, I'm not interested in what people earn, have or spend, but my earlier post pointed out that other people are reading these discussions in the hope of gleaning some useful, sensible advice and info on moving to /living in Andalucia. That I think is the whole purpose of t...

I don't give a toss what other people spend or earn. But Heston, you just proved my point. If you bought 4 new tyres @ €65 you blew over half that months budget. What did you eat the rest of that month, rubber scrapings? For your sake, I hope the next 6 months are as uneventful. If you ever run shor...

I know this topic has been done to death now, so I'll try to keep this brief. I think it all boils down to how exactly people are defining "living costs". €500 a month may cover "ordinary" expenses, but Katy rightly points out, you must also allow for unforseen eventualities like potholes and dental...

Interesting info. I am new to this forum and haven't followed earlier threads, so sorry if I repeated previous discussions. I have a Spanish licence which is due for renewal this year, and had half wondered whether to see if I could get my UK one back instead. At the risk of sounding a bigot, I'm ki...

I'm exhausted from reading all this thread, and thought I wouldn't be able to get a word in edgeways with all the bickering going on. I'm not going to take sides, as I can't even remember who's on what side any more. Way back, someone pointed out that people in the UK thinking of making the big move...

A year ago I was seriously thinking about commercially importing smoke detectors since I had to go all the way to B&Q in Watford to find one. Luckily I didn't bother. Now you can get them for 10 euros or so from Bauhaus, Leroy Merlin, Carrefour etc....seems I wasn't the only one to spot a gap in the...

Re: music

The Gypsy kings played a good few tunes too! They actually hailed from somehwere near St.Tropez in S.France so maybe they're not strictly speaking Spanish. But who cares? Neither is Jesse Cook. He's Canadian, but boy does he play a mean Spanish guitar! Go on everybody, get on Limewire and check him...

When you have made the move, Sallyanne, don't forget to get your driving licences exchanged :) My understanding of the situation is that this is no longer necessary. Your UK licence (as long as it is an EU photo type) is perfectly valid anywhere in the EU, and you do not have to change it for a loc...

Yes Ron, there is still the fish festival each year, but couldn't tell you exactly when - as I said, I don't like fish! Although I am rather partial to a plate of fried calamaritos (baby squid) at any of the chiringuitos along the beach - so long as it's washed down with an ice cold cerveza!

Plaza Mayor, Malaga, near the airport, always has 2 or 3 English films on, and usually you have the place to yourself - except when Da Vinci Code was on!

Personally don't like fish, so can't really recommend, but the place to head really is La Carihuela. There are so many good restaurants specialising in seafood, but Casa Juan seems to be the most popular among Spanish families and is always packed to the hilt Sunday lunchtimes.

Plaza Andalucia has been one big building site for over three years, and the new car park underneath it finally opened a couple of months back. I never fully understood why the council would spend money on building more car parks (there's another new underground one on the main road from Torremolino...

After paying someone with a fancy bit of equipment to install our dish originally, I got fed up with the variable reception for CH4 so got up there and "tweaked" it myself - 30 seconds fiddling and signal strength & quality better than ever. Still can't get CH5 at night mind you.
