I use big spring clips to hold in place clipped to edges.Obviously it depends on type of edging. the clips I use are the sort the market stallholders use which are extremely well sprung ( or those for battery jump leads, or even welding clamp earths. Mine were a euro each in the chinese shop. failin...

You claim in the country you live in, or if you have never worked there, the last one worked in . Rules here; http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/retire-abroad/state-pensions-abroad/index_en.htm It will come under EU rules , resulting in basic payouts from each country being 25-30% higher. :th...

Unfortunately there are many like you in the same boat. unless you have a pit of money to pursue them with multiple complaints I wouldn't hold out much hope. A complaint to the EU through SolVit is definitely worth a try.

My insurer will still supply a complete A4 green sheet , stamped dated, etc; every year , even though under EU rules they aren't necessary.

I actually suggest you read this web page. http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/1087.aspx?c ... goryid=162 Correct ,& this is the only part that counts,. "you intend to live permanently in the UK, and you have the right to live permanently in the UK or have a "route to settlement" that will allow permanent ...

Re: Is private health insurance compulsary

I have no problem with state workers/police retiring after 25-30 years service. I have a problem with them being paid what is a state pension before the official retiring age. Another problem with them 'retiring' is they then go on to other employment that takes jobs away from those who possibly nee...

Ole Optica in Nerja, just next to the 'Mas' supermarket, will give you a full function eye test free, and then expects you to pay for glasses (2-for-1) for me with varifocals and reactolite coating nearly 1000€ with the cheapest frames, so, knowing my Glaucoma result, I went to Soloptical for the g...

Don't get me started on food banks   Have you ever looked at the benefit rates, absolutely no need for them. I wouldn't even donate a tin of spam! All those on benefits seem to afford to smoke and drink. Yes , does me in as well. I was over in Devon earlier in year. Shopping in Sainsbur...

Re: Benefit Cheats Living the High Life !

Why would you tax benefits? It would be like giving with one hand and then taken it back with the other, which would result in extra bureaucracy and cost. That's the sort of logic I'd expect here in Spain. Say you earn 25k & the bloke next door receives the same in various benefits. You are going t...

One or two families around here still make all their own soap each year after their matanza. Our neighbour used to. She showed the wife & our elder daughter how to do it some 12 years ago. Trouble is you could never get the dogs out of the bathroom whilst we had the soap. They seemed to think there...

Honest, people have no reason to fear a compulsory I D system Go figure, it's not rocket science They have every reason . What starts as a good idea & with best intentions will always be turned into a means of control by those with a vested interest. http://falkvinge.net/2012/07/19/debunking-the-da...

2 weeks ago I returned to the UK.....I DO HAVE A PROPERTY THERE.....but have lived in Spain for 10 years and rented out my UK property, I am not of state pension age in the UK. I went to the local Dr's surgery to register. They gave me a form to fill in and asked for ID, I gave them my passport. Th...

Re: Benefit Cheats Living the High Life !

If they live in the UK I suppose it's declared in the UK. If they live in Spain, they declare in Spain. They can't live in both places at once BUT I don't know if benefits are taxable or not - never having had any benefits I really don't know about that aspect. They'd be taxable in Spain but not th...
